Criticizing your “own”.
I’m liberal and I think it’s my duty to criticise and point out when liberals are doing stupid shit, because it’s the only way to make progress and get better.
No, that doesn’t make me alt right or your enemy.
I don’t mind my fellow liberals being critical of one another. I mind when we eat our own.
Liberals often lose because we fight a two front war. Conservatives just have to fight liberals. Liberals fight both - conservatives and other liberals.
There’s a lot of “purity testing” we do that I don’t see on the other side. If liberals did a better job of accepting imperfect allies, we certainly would’ve won 2016. Maybe even won 2004.
There’s a lot of “purity testing” we do that don’t see on the other side.
So much this. I used to do a fair bit of volunteering for lefty politics and causes. There wasn’t overt judgement of people other volunteers who weren’t “pure” but there was a weird feeling of trying to be perfect.
I wish we exuded more of a “come as you are” vibe. I don’t give a shit if you and your fam drove to a climate protest. You’re taking time out of your day to do it. Ducking A. Drive safe on the way home and see you next time.
Take some time off of Twitter and Reddit, it’s good for your health
Married couples using two bedrooms instead of one. Just try saying that two people in a bed means two immune systems wage war. Or that double beds were popularised by the influx into cities during the industrial revolution and lack of accommodation. And see what happens…
My grandparents slept in different rooms for years. My grandfather would have to get up stupid early for work, and didn’t want to wake my grandmother up.
Going from one bathroom to two was a game changer for my wife and I
Differences.
Guy Fieri
I don’t understand the hate for him. He seems like such a nice guy.
Apparently, this article says he has made some homophobic and antisemitic comments and provides at least one direct quote.
Being charitable is nice, but being a bigot isn’t.
I think it would be hard to answer that because most everything, if not all, have some drawbacks. Also, the reason can be subjective. I hate it because I hate it.
Furries. I seriously don’t get the hate. Its just people with artsy hobbies. And if some of them put a bit of adult stuff into it too, why is that a problem? Theres enough other weirder sex stuff going on in the world that isnt hated.
And actual nerds was hated back in the 90s. I didn’t get that either. They do nothing but doing their hobbies far away from you and sports and mass social stuff. Lot of them was just introverts. Cringy comedies was made about them, and that continues today with stuff like The Big Bang Theory. But in early 2K nerding was suddenly “cool” and everyone used the word and watered it into meaninglessness.
Anyone who enjoy being in the spotlight. Like seriously how people are mobbing any (failed) attempt at attention seeking. Why is it that nobody is allowed to stick out? Is it envy? I got no envy for them, I enjoy not having too much attention on me. But people who enjoy it should be allowed to do so without being hated.
Anyone who basically wants to make the world a better place
I don’t know how wide spread it is but there is a substantial amount of hate for the fact someone made a sex mod for Rimworld, with the main point being that is is immoral.
In a game where you can kidnap and cannibals children and make furniture out of their skin. We draw the line at a couple having sex in their own bed…
Mornings
People with clunkers driving around with dents and scratches without fixing them up.
They’re just advertising that they aren’t very good at driving and you should avoid being near them or parking next to them.
In some defense of the beat up clunkers, my family used to have a '92 Buick century. When my sister and I got our licenses that because essentially our car until we got our own since my parents had 3 (and later became my sister’s after I got my own car and she went off to college.)
When I was about 18/19, I got t-boned at low speed by some dumbass coming out of a gas station. Traffic was moving slow, I was well in front of him when he pulled out, and he smashed in the rear passenger side door.
It’s a small miracle that insurance didn’t total the car since it was nearly 20 years old and couldn’t have been worth too much but they didn’t. My dad decided he’d rather just pocket the money instead of fixing the door (it opened and closed, locked, windows rolled up and down, etc. just had a giant dent) so we kept that car around for another probably 5 or 6 years until it finally crapped out on my sister.
When I got my license, I had a 1995 Geo Prizm that I affectionately called Dumpy. The paint was peeling on it, and I ended up removing the front quarter panel after a deer jumped into it (deer was walking on the side of a country road, I slowed down to 20mph, got over to the other side of the road, and it decided to jump headfirst into the side light as soon I got parallel to it). Still 100% reliable for years, and it was a manual, so no one tried to steal it, even when I managed to leave the key in the door in a city for 2 hours.
Some cars aren’t worth fixing. Dumpy was $1200 in 2010. Why would I spend $500 repairing the bumper, and $2-5k repainting it?
At some point in a car’s life you ask yourself “is this worth getting fixed?”. The answer is often no for minor cosmetic damage and they tend to mount up.
Well, that done sound like a decent reason.
Sports teams and individuals that are extremely successful.
Think Lebron James or the golden state warriors for example. Lebron has magically never set a foot wrong yet a huge number of people hate him. Same with athletes like Novak Djokovic etc.
Basically success is hated irrationally.
Same with athletes like Novak Djokovic
That guy is a VERY bad example after his behaviour during the COVID19 pandemy.
Novax Djokovic
Djokovic has definitely made statements that makes people’s dislike for him justified.
Amazing at his sport, crap human being.
In Britain, supporting the underdog is a national past time.
Some view it as unsporting or even just plain boring to support people and teams so successful that you just expect they will win. This shouldn’t be confused with hating them, it’s just wanting to see an unexpected victory which can make a sports event feel more special.
It does however bring some schadenfreude when you see what are called “glory supporters” (people that only support a team/sportsman because they are already established reliable winners) have to eat a loss.
I myself stopped watching Formula 1 because a McLaren one two with Hamilton taking the pole was almost so guaranteed that it became extremely boring. I don’t hate McLaren or Hamilton in the slightest, I just prefer competitive sports.
Guy Fieri. He just wants to eat and cook
And be friends with Trump.
