Chinese people go to jail if they are found browsing outside the Great Firewall.Google and other social media censorship can, just as quickly, lead to social credit scores ( well credit scores are gatekeeping poor people already ) and inevitable erosion of free speech and chill fair-use copyright exercising.
Censorship might have edge cases ( terror attack suspect details, privacy from surveillance, etc) but it should never be the norm and it should be directly dealt with jury-trial court-cases with Billion-dollar penalties to ensure it will never happen again without stringent checks-and-balances.
