Stardew Valley and Kingdom Come Deliverance are the two big ones at the moment. I’ve played both a bit at a time for a while now.

Stardew Valley needs little introduction. It’s a beautiful gem of an indie game. I’m in fall of year two and just getting used to married life and making that sweet sweet gold making wine and jelly.

Kingdom Come Deliverance is an awesome RPG in a non-fantasy medieval setting. You’re the son of a blacksmith and your town is burned by a massive army leaving you a refugee seeking to avenge your parents. You’re no war hero or chosen one, just a man trying to find his place in the beautiful but uncertain world…and maybe learn to read while he’s at it

Reminds me of my time playing Rising Storm 2, having a mosin (long, obselecent bolt action rifle) and taking way more than 8 shots at passing helicopters. I nailed a pilot in the head from pure luck and he commented on how cool/bullshit it was

Wrist watches used to be women’s wear. Pocket watches were for men until WW1 when they found out that wrist mounted timepieces are super handy when you need to carry a rifle all the time and launch attacks synchronized with walking artillery barrages.

Just like anything else it can be purely for looks or purely for function but the best stuff does both at once. A nice looking precise watch, a pen that looks and writes great, dress shoes comfortable enough to wear all day, an Italian suit with a tactical liner lol

Not pre 2010 but Shadows of Doubt is worth a mention. You are a former cop turned private eye, solving crimes in a procedually generated city trying to make ends meet. You pick locks, hack emails, use air vents and “Jensen your way in” to chase leads, collect evidence and bring justice that the megacorporation government won’t.

It’s far from perfect but is the best “Deus Ex 1 we have at home” I’ve seen.

This is the crap your average gun owners have to deal with all the time. And with similar results for crime prevention, which leads to more and more hoops as legislators try more of the same.

I listened to a podcast (99 Percent Invisible I think) and it said a big reason why the 90s were so great for movies were the creation of cinaplexes, big movie theaters with tons of screens.

More screens meant that new or different ideas that wouldn’t normally make it to the big screen (Forrest Gump, Fight Club, The Matrix etc) were given a chance, and found an audience.

Now everything is played safe. Hollywood doesn’t want new franchises because they are deemed too risky, and the names we know and love are running out of ideas and passion and risk ruining the whole thing.

When I was a garbage man (covid was a weird time) one stop was a business that made those benches, beach chairs, picnic tables etc. Every other week that dumpster was filled to the brim with leftover pieces and “sawdust”. We don’t have a recycling center in the area so guess where that all goes?

Yeah LED’s are amazing, I just want warmer light from them.

So I’ve driven fire trucks and similar sized vehicles. If I’m trying to get the truck in a driveway and have two lanes to work with I can go nose first. I go into the lane opposite of the target driveway to swing the front end into the driveway. It definitely takes both lanes if you don’t want to make a 100 point turn, Austin Powers style.

If it’s a tiny road or only one lane then I have to back in. I approach by getting as close to the target drive as possible and then swing the nose away from that side of the road, lining up at a better angle when I start backing. This pic shows it well but you don’t need nearly as much space irl. Your just go slower and cut the wheel harder. The back tire could be just a bit above and to the left the #3.

My point is you can get into a lot tighter spaces backing in. There’s a reason why forklifts steer from the back. The truck in the pic should have backed in or started over.
