Not that I should expect even a little sense from right wingers, but this slogan is so messed up. Isn’t kneeling supposed to be bad because it’s disrespectful? So you are disrespecting the cross? Or was Kaepernick engaging in idolatry?
The flag thing is a more recent military tradition. You salute your flag and hymn like you salute your top officer, while still showing your power as a unit, not breaking a tight formation you are standing in. Kneeling down is for their enemies, our obviously good boys share the common cause.
I thought there might’ve been a deeper reason, though I’m not surprised it does seem pretty dumb considering the reason people have done it is as a form of protest (if protesting for rights is disrespectful, there is seriously something wrong with the world).
No not really the world, just conservatives. Everyone else thinks it’s stupid. They’re just really loud and obnoxious so it feels like there’s more of them than there are. Don’t get me wrong there are some really loud and obnoxious liberals but I feel like most of the time they are fighting against injustice. I suppose conservatives may view their loss of total control as an injustice but they are probably scared that giving up power will lead to their own oppression in retaliation of their past shitty behaviour. It’s why they have to keep doubling down - they’ve boxed themselves into a corner. Only way forward I can see is to forgive and give assurances that they will not lose their own rights and that there is enough freedom to go around for everyone.
It is stupid, we should be able to stand up for our rights, especially since conservatives feel we shouldn’t have any (and I’m not just talking about trans, gay, and queer rights either, they’ve shown they don’t want anyone to have rights).

Traditionally one stands for the flag out of respect so not doing so is seen as disrespectful
Whereas kneeling (and bowing one’s head) for the cross is seen as basically submitting yourself to the will of god
So basically traditions being traditions, things are weird

Why is taking a Knee during the anthem considered disrespectful anyway? I never really got why and no one has ever given me a good answer.
Because black people did it is why

A respectfull thing to do is to do what an old white guy tells you to do.
