This is a lie. They last spoke just before Lennon was killed in 1980.
What the hell is this talking about? A “bet over the phone about the outcome of the show?” McCartney “called during the live broadcast” and this was “the last time the two ex-Beatles communicated?” Says who?
The real story of April 24, 1976 exists, but the above words bear no resemblance to what actually happened. The story is here, complete with the SNL video here.
I didn’t realize how strained their relationship must have been. The last time they spoke to one another was on a phone call. And it was a TV show. What a weird way to end things.
Not so weird for a group of people whose lives were in the spotlight for basically most of their lives
Yeah. That’s wild.
It’s been interesting to hear Adam Savage talk about his relationship with Jamie Heinemen - there seems to be no ill will, and they both respect the hell out of each other. But they admit they were never more than coworkers, and by all accounts they’re both just okay with that.
Anyway, I wonder sometimes if this isn’t pretty common, but just more noticable with major celebrity duos.
Don’t really think it’s comparable. John and Paul were like brothers
I’ve had friends that were like brothers and have since grown apart from. Not because anyone did anything wrong. There’s just more to life than having to keep hanging out with the same people all the time.
It’s wild because it’s not true. Look up McCartney’s Howard Stern interview, or the book he wrote. They spoke on the phone after this.
It’s clearly Yoko’s fault Adam and Jamie aren’t BFFs.
/s
I mean, Yoko did embarrass Jamie in front of Chuck Berry
Going by other posts here, this appears not to be the case.

The two last spoke on the phone in early 1980.
This was 4 years after they had the chat about SNL.
