The article quotes Dr. Jayakumar making a general statement regarding alcohol diseased livers, but the University Health Network declined to comment on Amanda’s specific case outside offering their (patronizing) condolences.

Did you bother to read the article? Her partner was a match, and could have donated a portion of their liver to her, if approved, as opposed to a donated liver.
Judge someone all you want for their previous life choices, but the decision referenced in this case should have been between the two of them and their doctor.

I’ll do that. Should I be using the “Ender-3 4.2.2 mainboard (32bit)” firmware? I’ve read that the Marlin firmware isn’t compatible with the GD CPUs, so I’m assuming the “Ender-3Marlin2.0.6HW4.2.2GD” won’t work.
Update: support got back to me, with instructions to reflash using the latter firmware. The symptoms changed: during the firmware “upgrade”, the 05 LED flashes about once a second. I let it run for ten minutes, but the printer never rebooted. Powered it off, removed the SD card, powered it back on… Still nothing but a blue display, though the 05 LED keeps blinking once a second.
I’m thinking it’s a bad motherboard. Waiting on support, now.
I’ve got a laptop running Linux on it; connected it up at some point during my time with it. The laptop was able to see the USB to serial adapter, but I didn’t poke at it to see if anything was talking on the other side. I’ll try that today!
Checked for that, too. Both the original panel and the replacement only have one “port” for the cable on the back. The board has spots for two more to be connected, but both are missing. Looking at the front of the panel (as if I’m using it), the port is the left most of the three.
I’d prefer venting it into the manager’s office.

Netflix can’t implement three different changes to its business model and then cherry pick one of those changes as the reason for the increased revenue. Well, maybe not can’t… They’re certainly trying to, and some folk are eating it up, apparently.

My brother’s wife. During the start of the pandemic (six months in?), she threw a Facebook hissy fit, declaring COVID to be nothing more than a bad cold. She declared the real killers as gluten and 5G. She was vehemently against mandatory vaccination (much freedom!), but would turn around and use her next breath to demand the gov’t ban gluten from foods and the 5G rollout.
Called her crazy and haven’t talked to her since.
