This is something hopeful, I applaud them 🙏 👏

Yeah, but it’s something that wasn’t there before so it matters. Current and past gens have fucked it ALL up so these kids are part of something positive. And future lies with them.
It is absurd that Saudia Arabia will be hosting the UN Comission for Womens rights. ‘They’ve destroyed us because of some tweets’: why has Saudi Arabia targeted these three sisters? Saudia Arabia is as shit as Iran’s regime.
Religion and patriarchal control and oppression of women pretty much anywhere in the world is like white on rice.
Obscene oil wealth that swallows up any attempts to focus on the regimes across the board human rights abuses. Saudi Arabia’s sovereign wealth fund, which oversees about $650 billion in assets invests in US and global markets, in twitter, banks, in global sports, in US weapons, in surveillance, in wars… Saudi golf takeover is blueprint for what they want to do everywhere else
This was May 2023 and the usual controlling of narrative and cover given:
US skips UN Nakba event marking dispossession of Palestinians after Israeli campaign
(CNN) The United States and Western nations including the United Kingdom and Germany on Monday skipped an event at the United Nations marking the 75th anniversary of the dispossession of Palestinians after Israel called for a boycott.
The event, the first of its kind to be held by the UN, commemorated the Nakba or “catastrophe” – when roughly 700,000 Palestinians fled or were expelled from their homes in what is now Israel. The commemoration was boycotted by Israeli officials, who also urged diplomats of other nations not to participate.
On Sunday, Israel’s ambassador to the UN, Gilad Erdan, sent a letter to other UN ambassadors “deeply urging” them not to take part in what he called a “shameful Nakba event,” according to a copy of the letter obtained by CNN. Erdan said “Such events only serve to demonize Israel and further push away any chance for reconciliation.”
The Nakba (Arabic: النكبة an-Nakbah, lit. ‘The Catastrophe’) was the ethnic cleansing[2] of Palestinians in Mandatory Palestine during the 1948 Palestine war through their violent displacement and dispossession of land, property, and belongings, along with the destruction of their society, culture, identity, political rights, and national aspirations.[3] The term is also used to describe the ongoing persecution and displacement of Palestinians by Israel.[4] As a whole, it covers the shattering of Palestinian society and the long-running rejection of the right of return for Palestinian refugees and their descendants.
Yes, but are we to believe the IDF is angelic? Considering the dehumanization of Palestinians seems to be so commonplace. If you have to declare you are the most humane, something is amiss.

When a military brands itself “the most humane” military like the IDF has. That already should be a clue as to the marketing and propaganda they’ve built up for decades and question why the need for branding at all. Systemic abuses, systemic coverups and blank checks given.
I’m surprised it took this long. Cellphones should be placed in lockers or into classroom size cellphone holder/chargers that many schools use when they enter class if they are not asked to keep it in their lockers all day, save lunch.
Surprised by some of the comments, def not teachers but sound like folks who might die if you were to separate them from their phones.
Cellphones in classrooms are a problem and shouldn’t be allowed whether that’s 100% enforceable or not.
I misinterpreted, the loud aarch is shouting out (arguably) less friendly distros over what the first bird started suggested.
I lol’d.
I’m an arch user myself, chose it because i wanted to get familiar with command line and force myself to learn a bit more about linux. Since choosing a DE was also paralyzing, I opted for i3 and now use sway and learned more about config files. Great part about linux is you can try and use what you like and works for you.
Finally, I remember the Ajit Pai era all too well when the FCC was auditioning for lucrative future revolving door private gigs. Rather than looking out for consumers.
I get the feeling you cheerlead for big business and corporations over working people and unions.
Troll alert.
Productivity has gone up, wages have been stagnant, but retirement age gets pushed upwards, never downwards.
Just noting that Microsoft acquired Github back in 2018.
Every child should be introduced to linux. Will help them understand better they don’t need to be treated as products and certainly make them more computer literate, and hopefully more security conscious.
A friends mom was snowboarding with her grandkids the year before covid. His sister, a pharmacist btw, warned their mom off the vaccine. Their mom caught covid and died. The vaccine would likely have saved her life.
Tens, no likely hundreds of thousands of people surely died due to misinformation and fear mongering.
Now measles might be making a comeback as well.
This is frightening, dystopian stuff, and i don’t understand how police and govt allow for this.
"Known as the Hate Crime Working Group and formed in 2019, it is composed of nearly two dozen Crown prosecutors, some of whose public comments show pro-Israel and anti-Palestinian bias.
The committee’s chair has said she is “committed” to the state of Israel, while another member described a pro-Palestinian activist as a “terrorist” and collaborated with a group of lawyers that aggressively defend Israel’s assault on Gaza, which has killed 38,000 Palestinians.
In one case from 2021, involving a protest in front of the Israeli consulate of Toronto, the Hate Crime Working Group’s prosecutors had greater access to the consulate’s staff than the police. … The Hate Crime Working Group is shrouded in secrecy. In the Crown Prosecution Manual published by the Attorney General’s office to explain the criminal process, there is no mention of its existence. … A direct line to Israeli consulate
Even before the recent uptick of public mobilization opposing Israel’s treatment of Palestinian, the Hate Crime Working Group has intervened in cases of solidarity activism. In 2021, David Mivasair, a rabbi and member of Independent Jewish Voices, was charged with mischief for pouring red paint on the steps of the Israeli consulate in Toronto.
But its treatment by the Crown was highly unusual. Two high ranking prosecutors—Rochelle Direnfield and Kim Motyl, another member at the time of the Hate Crime Working Group—were assigned to the case and it was dragged out for many months."
