You learn plenty by breaking and reinstalling. I don’t considering it an invalid option for a home user. I had to reinstall MacOS7/8 and Windows 95/98 so many times as a kid. Learned a lot doing it, sysadmin now 🤷♂️

Based off the Ubuntu 24.04 release, which already seems half broken, it’s perfect.
Wine and Cedega back in the early days, I played WiW in the Vanilla days on Suse Linux. My first foray into Linux was 2002 on a system that was decent for the time. I have fond memories of the first time I got my GeForce 3 card actually doing hardware acceleration. glxgears rendered hundreds of FPS.
I forgot how much I liked the old Logitech logo. Make me remember my old MX518.

Note did I, so I assumed that was the case as well. I only have my Linux desktop with Steam.
Outside of competitive shooters, which is my favorite genre to play on PC, a lot of stuff runs well through Proton. And that’s an issue of the anti-cheat systems.
Linux gaming isn’t for everyone, I play what I can on PC and have a PS5 for other experiences. There are plenty of games I wish I could play, but I’m not interested enough to dual boot windows. I would do vfio passthrough for a VM, if they weren’t getting better at detecting that.
Ultimately I have enough games I can play to stay busy.
This is what I fear as well. I'm still running Kubuntu, as I have been for years. Next time I build a system it may just be time for Debian Testing or sid. I've been messing with both on some Intel NUCs I have laying around.
KPatience is my goto
I've ran the Linux native Valheim client for 100+ hours on my Kubuntu install and had zero issues with the game.
Terry Davis was truly the only one who managed to walk the fine line. R.I.P
