Yeah I also read The Power and the author doesn’t have my favorite writing style, but I tend to power through books unless they’re awful. Shortly after I read Spin by Robert Charles Wilson which was phenomenal if you like sci fi and need a good read!

I have a friend who turned in such a good paper during grad school that the professor thought it was plagiarized (no turnitin or anything) and gave him a 0. After meeting with the teacher and straightening it out I would have felt pretty good about myself.

When I was little I was at a science store and they had one of these out on the the counter which was a glass counter with metal seams. The clerk was showing us kids how if we held hands and one of us touched it we could all feel it. I was already familiar with touching doorknobs after shuffling in slippers so I got the bright idea to touch the metal seam on the counter and shocked the whole line of kids. good times

They often do the whole “we’ll refund immediately as a courtesy but you need to return it by x or you’ll be charged” thing— in this case for whatever (infuriating) reason they charged me even though it’s clear their own system (their chat bot) knew the item had been marked as received on their end. I dropped it off at a brick and mortar store too!

Yeah I use it to keep up with friends/family and have a private account— most people I know don’t post regular posts, only stories, so it’s actually quite easy for me to exhaust all the content I care about and then leave. The post feed is mostly ads for me since my friends don’t post. The ‘explore’ feed for me is mostly indian weddings and flood content for some unfathomable reason.
