Star Control 2
People will click whatever’s stopping them from the dopamine hit of adding a game they’re probably not going to play to their library.
It’d be even harder to stop someone who actually WANTS to play the game they’re paying for! Lol
The music on the CD is copyrighted, but you’re free to use the Bass Boost feature or whatever on the thing you’re playing the music from
Do they need “buy” or “purchase”? All they need is “pay”, and nobody would notice.
Hmm…if the price of retro games lowers, I’ll be more likely to get good deals…
But I’ll be in a worse position if I ever need to sell parts of my existing collection…
That is generally why people pay for things
I think that random encounters can be done well, but they’re often not done well.
I like that they can be a way to give feelings of attrition when travelling through long areas.
I pay for YouTube premium because I like the idea of content creators getting paid when I watch their videos. I don’t want to manually send each of them money or sign up for their channel memberships or anything. But if they make videos that I watch and they get a kickback? I’m fine with that.
I also have a YouTube channel that bring in a bit of beer money, so I use that to justify the cost.
If the emulator can’t run games from archive files, then I store what I play unarchived, and what I don’t play stays as archived as it was.
Unless they’re small files, then I’d probably back then up extracted. But I haven’t had a case where the files were small enough for me to store extracted but the emulator couldn’t run from archives.
I go for full libraries. This would never work for me! Haha
I believe the comment I replied to changed what it said. I recall something about making it a law that DRM should be removed after a reasonable time period of 1 to 2 years.
I agree that DRM sucks. I didn’t agree that it should be law to remove DRM a year or two after release.
Considering companies can easily sell new copies of games after 2 years, I’d still be fine with a longer period of time. I want developers to make money.
I’ve seen a Kickstarter that would open source their game after 2 years if they raised $4.4 million or so. They didn’t reach that goal, but they open sourced the previous game in the series after about 10 years.
For just removing DRM, I think somewhere between 2 and 10 years is the sweet spot. I mean, I’ve still got 10-year old games on my list I’d be willing to buy, haha
“Physical copies” is a big ask, considering they would also have to be selling the hardware to run those games.
To your credit, they aren’t actually selling most of their back catalog anymore, since their e-shops that sold games for the WiiU/3DS are closed down, and with them, the Virtual Console died. Now we’ve only got a subscription-based library to play a much more limited selection of old games.
Either way, it’s not Nintendo’s fault you pirate games. You want to play old games, and you don’t want to pay too much money for them, so you pirate them. Let’s be real.
Implying that game cases end up in the trash… especially when they’re usually used to hold games these days?
You need to see more game collections! Haha
People have been deriding digital-only games for years and years now. While a stupid F2P game isn’t the best thing to put on a disc, I can see why people might want it.
It’s weird, but it makes sense when you’re used to it. Z can be a bit awkward, though. Having the face buttons all be different shapes is a great plus imo.
This controller is probably the daddy of the original Xbox controller, and the GameCube controller (N64 is the mother there).
It was probably more comfortable than the Xbox one, and looked cooler than the GC one, but the GC controller wins in comfort.
Sounds similar to where I live. The busybodies can be annoying, and fraud (etc.) can be a problem. But I won’t let perfect be the enemy of good to my opinion.
HOAs are rare where I live, but we often have property management that oversees multiple units to take care of and fund common elements.
They’re not all perfect, but most aren’t nearly as bad as what I’ve heard about HOAs.
Lol…I don’t know what to tell you. It happens.
Even if I thought good pizza is enjoyable to anybody, I’m not going to disagree with the idea that someone could possibly dislike good pizza.
