I am intimately familiar with issues like this. It’s maddening.
This is how I look at things. Most of my life is not fun. It has its moments but I'm not enjoying every second. Work, responsibility, being an adult. These things happen so you can have periods of enjoyment.
I had a thing thing on with a bookcase and told them I was sick of haggling; they could have it for free, it's at the end of the driveway.
My buddy picked me up to do something right after and helped me take it down to the end of the driveway. He said if it's there when we get back I'll take it (he drives a van for his business).
He dropped me off hours later, 3 hours after the guys said they would come and the bookcase was still there, it was going to rain, so we loaded it into his van.
As we're doing this the brodogs show up in a car way too small to handle this item and acting like they would fight us over this transgression. Lol.
Yes, agreed. It’s not like it’s a big city but it’s big enough that it was obvious this was either a blatant cash grab or complete mismanagement (laziness/incompetence). Guessing the latter.
I was visiting family in the city I grew up in and we decided to go to this place that now charges for parking. It’s a city lot. I figured I have to get this app to park. The city app.
First, it was a nightmare of horrible bad UX and half-assed customization. Second, it took about 15 minutes of bs to pay for parking (time outs, a couple 2fa’s, we need you to use a social but we haven’t set up that login path correctly). Finally, get parking paid, my wife is losing her mind thinking I’m an idiot because it took so long, and then the spam calls started. I literally wasn’t into the building and I was getting spam texts and robo calls. I’m not talking “goods and services I might like” , this was “Canadian border services has determined you have unpaid fines” voicemails and “hi, i just found your number again can u text” type stuff. Just wild.
As someone who grew up in Canada during the transition to metric, I think I might go into an infinite loop if I moved to the US. Ok the temp is 72 f which is 22 C which is 72 f which is…
I once heard a guy say “Men have two emotions: hunger and anger.”
Here’s a link to a page that was gone before I finished copying the url and doesn’t forward anywhere.
At least you could argue there was a reason to pay that much for it.
I was definitely outlining and writing essays in early grades but was on an accelerated track. My friends from the neighborhood who went to a different junior high entered high school without ever have done this. That blew my mind at the time and still does today decades later.
Both of these methods require the student to understand the work. My old man brain insists they should have to code assembly from scratch and walk through snow storms to a library for their essay research, but in reality this is likely how this technology will be used. It’s a practical approach. The 8th grade version should probably include fact checking.
AI writing will be wanted more or less depending on what is being written, the context, the quality, and the audience. It is here now. If it is better, people will consume it. You might have a favorite AI writer for cyberpunk adventure but prefer a human written autobiography.
It is.
I’m good. I’m in and out in minutes. Yes, I get less reading done, but I have way more time for other activities.
Edit: plus road trips are so much better, no more dealing with horrifyingly gross gas station bathrooms.
I have had the same operation and sometimes feel like I have to “go”. It’s really weird. Sorry if tmi.
Thank you, I had it before and pulled through ok, I started feeling better after an epic nap today.
Must have been terrifying for you while your wife was ill.
A few months before anyone even heard of COVID a friend of ours who was a runner and what not was in the ICU with double pneumonia for a long time and they had no idea at all what it was. We all assume it was COVID now but no one said it was (it’s not like they could have tested her for it). Pretty wild.
This just got me and I needed a good laugh so thank you.
Going on my seventht day of COVID, getting worse, and my scumbag immune system has decided this isn’t nearly as interesting as the large intestine and everything south of it that it took a few years back.
C’mon, little help here?!
You have to select starchy potatoes, not waxy, and let them steam dry (e.g. drain water in metal colander and toss in a warm oven or on the stove for a bit). Mix in the seasoning and milk/butter after they are mostly mashed for better control of consistency.
Edit: was agreeing. Glueyness is not because they are cut up.
