that’s to stop people from spamming signatures with user+1@gmail, user+2@gmail, user+3@gmail, etc.

what mods do you like? There’s a bunch but I don’t know what’s good!
“Can I have some shoes” too
Your problem is posting memes lol, maybe try posting in other communities
As someone who just wandered into this thread - yes, you are by far the most insufferable poster on this thread so far. Worse than many other vegetarians in fact.
You can't fuck yourself
You can say fucking on the Internet, it's ok
I’d be happy to go back… for a 40% raise.
What do you mean that’s mercenary? That’s just unavoidable circumstances. Since the company is a family, you want to take care of your family members, right?
tosh? u mean like stupid shit?
Second Life rehash ideas
I’ve got an idea. What about… Second Second Life. We create a virtual universe you access through Second Life!
Not even VRChat, it’s straight up just worse Second Life.
All the people i knew who were fans of the metaverse could never give me a straight answer for “what makes metaverse different from second life?”, besides “it’s facebook”.
“Reddit, what’s the sexiest sex you’ve ever sexed? [Serious]”
i’ve been using rdx.overdevs.com - it’s a great way to read comments on mobile with a great UI, and you can import your list of subscriptions in a .json file. The only issue is that you can’t use it to post, so it’s read-only. I view that as a feature and not a bug.
people will make quality content and totally not botfarm and karmawhore everywhere
You’re assuming that botfarming and karma whoring isn’t considered “quality”.
I mean, look at this shining beacon of quality: “Reddit, what’s the sexiest sex you’ve ever sexed? [Serious]”
they left (and hopefully some ended up here).
I used to post almost daily (although i wouldn’t classify much of it as “quality”) for the last few years, and less frequently for about a decade before that. I’ve posted exactly 0 times since the app-pocalypse.
“The only downside is that the Windows Store appears not to work out of the box.”
This is a feature, not a bug.
I guess you’re lucky (or much more tech-savvy than me). I tried to switch to linux once many years ago (pre-COVID, which is like ancient times now). It was horrible. Oh, I now need to learn about file systems and NTFS and ext3/4(?) - i guess i’ll try Linux on a separate, old hard drive. Ok, something didn’t work, I now have to figure out what driver wasn’t supported and what I need to download. Great, people on forums are helpful but they’re asking me a bunch of gibberish. Now I gotta figure out this command line thing. Oh cool some people built GUIs for certain stuff so i don’t need to play with the command line, but then the GUI doesn’t work occasionally and now I have to figure out if it’s the GUI that broke or something else. And then at some point I got stuck because of file permissions.
Linux: “my users spend half their time troubleshooting”
In 2022, 75% of UK Internet users and 80% of Hong Kong internet users used WhatsApp (just do a search for “WhatsApp usage in Hong kong/uk”). Would you call these global financial hubs poor and illiterate countries?
I hate Facebook as much as the average lemmy user (lemming?), but let’s not pretend that everyone makes decisions based on the company’s reputation.
Spamming user+1@gmail, user+2@gmail takes absolutely no technical knowledge whatsoever - anyone can do it with 1 gmail account.
Spamming user1@domain, user2@domain etc requires 1 of two things:
you can sign up for multiple email accounts using a third party service. You’re going to run into trouble with Gmail or other big providers if you start creating accounts en masse.
you create your own email server. this requires someone with selfhosting knowledge and some basic coding (or rather server config) experience.
