You can make the argument that something was the reason he originally made the offer to buy Twitter, but that seems separate to me.

If I talk to friends about wanting to dye my hair pink as a joke, then they propose a bet making me do it if I lose, I lose and do it, then the reason my hair is pink is that I lost a bet, not whatever I originally suggested.

If I eat something I don’t like because there is nothing else in the fridge, the reason I’m eating it is that there is nothing else in the fridge, not whatever reason is there for it to be in the fridge in the first place (a visiting friend left it behind).

In all cases, the situation was created by some other event, and in Twitter’s case, there was an original reason he made the offer, but it did not end up being the reason he bought it, because he wouldn’t have bought it otherwise.

    That’s how I see it.

  • There is a difference between running in the background and being in memory.

Recent Apps may or may not be in memory, that’s why when you switch to a “recent” app not used in a while it restarts anyway instead of continuing where you left it, it’s effectively just a bookmark to a closed app. So the list being long doesn’t mean these apps are using memory.

While running in the background is unrelated, apps can run in the background regardless if they are in the Recents list or not. And it can absolutely cause issues or excessive battery usage, but clearing the Recents list is not the solution.

  • I don’t think he wasn’t believing in the force, he knew Jedi were real, he just wasn’t buying the mysticism surrounding it and didn’t think it’s such a big deal. He knew Vader is a powerful force user, but the Death Star is literally one shotting entire planets, so the force didn’t feel that significant to him in the grand scheme of things.

A teacher gave us the definition of biotechnology in primary school, something like “using living organisms to make products or services”.

I asked if ploughing a field with a horse-drawn plough is biotechnology and was told off for having a piss. It was a genuine question and I still don’t know.
