I’ve found periodically cleaning mine with rubbing alcohol and a qtip vastly improves charging, fit, and sound. Still thinking about upgrading sometime soon tho.

Not exactly fantasy, but Great Expectations by Dickens has a boy who grows up totally normal and then has his life transformed by a mysterious benefactor. It doesn’t go the way the kid expects.
Also, Sanderson’s Stormlight Archive & Tress and the Emerald Sea feature kinds of magic that can be accessible by anyone if they engage with it right. So perhaps give those a go. SA is a long series, but Tress is pretty approachable.
Oh friend, what a ride you’ve been on. I grew up LCMS, and so lemme just say thanks for not doing that to your kids. I noticed what you said about immigrants trying to assimilate in LCMS as well. Particularly when I would visit family in the Midwest, there was a Chinese buffet that we would always visit, and my anti-immigrant (in general) family would proudly say how he went to their church, that the church wrote on his behalf to help get him citizenship, etc. I saw that less in my own community, but LCMS is not the biggest fish in that pond. Baptist is. I’m sorry you had that experience. Bad theology hurts people, and I’m glad you’re making it out on the other side.
I can appreciate that approach. But the biggest problems I have are when they nest in the railing of my little wooden deck. Every year it’s the same fight. So I’m a little leery of using fire.
Lol, not while I’m holding the bottle.
But seriously, where are the drones made specifically to spray stuff on wasp nests? I wouldn’t feel the need to use the foaming, bad stuff that hurts the bees if I could try a robot applying something like this. Or at least if it sprayed foam, it could be in significantly smaller amounts, much closer the the nest of trouble.
Our Albertson’s (including most Safeway brands) in my region want to merge with the Kroger brand stores. They say it’ll be good for customers. 🙄
I think part of the general 🤷♀️ this year is how early Easter happened. Even though spring also started early, it just felt way too soon to be Easter.
But also, you’re lucky you don’t just… have this crap shoved down your throat everywhere you go. In my northwestern US town, the local cult I mean mega church rented out the big convention space and put signs up all over town.
Also, maybe people with kids gotta still care. Kids are excited about everything that they can possibly celebrate.
Yeah, a real “Rich Dad, Poor Dad” situation there (for all the If Books Could Kill listeners)
That sounds like the kind of conversation worth recording and taking to a lawyer. I can't imagine a call that goes "Hi, I'd like to cancel my service. What do you mean you can't do that? No one at the company can help? I've been on the phone with 4 different reps. Fine, I'll just call my card to stop paying. What do you mean you're going to send me to collections?!" wouldn't get done kind of positive movement.
I wasn’t advocating that a person should quit. But there’s a far cry between the people I’m polite to because I see them at work everyday vs the people I’ll invest emotional energy in, converse with about more than the day’s weather. It’s really hard that OP has emotionally invested in a person who listens to bad people. That divide–where OP wants to put attention and conversation–is what I was trying to highlight. Have rational, honest conversations–if it’s safe to do so.
If you’re privileged enough not to be threatened in that situation (ie you’re not a younger woman, an immigrant, LGBTQ+) and it’s not emotionally damaging to maintain the relationship, do. Be there, but be open about different and willing to answer questions. Either they’ll be an ass eventually, or maybe, just maybe, you can show them the rabbit hole is just their head in the sand. Cult deprogrammers say over and over that the best way to get people to see reason is through personal conversation. But don’t have expectations that it’ll work all at once, or if they go back and forth in their beliefs. Unlearning worldviews is hard work.
Skills requiring a lot of flexibility like ballet or gymnastics.
I love the shot with all the hearts around his face ❤️ what a happy cat!

The start of your comment reminded me of the exchange between Trevor Noah & Tomi Lauren where Trevor asks her, okay, so if this protest isn’t good, and this kind isn’t good, how should black people protest? How should they make their grievances known? And she just could not answer that question. Protests aren’t comfortable–they’re disruptive by nature. If protests don’t challenge anything or make anyone uncomfortable, what are they even doing?
I was scrolling for Spiritfarer. All the feels. But fun to play, build, & explore.
I also like that in this format, you can get a lot of people’s thoughts on a topic, including deeper conversation, all at once. In discord, I’m always having to scroll back & forth, and the other socials are frustrating to deal with.
Forgive me, but I don’t believe political affiliation is a protected class–protected classes are the only things people can’t discriminate based on. So like, race, sex, religion are protected, but democrat/republican/green party aren’t protected. Businesses can legally discriminate against non-protected classes. It’s just usually a bad business strategy to turn customers away.
Thank you for putting this into words. I got called weird all the time as a kid, made the choice to take it as a compliment. It getting used right now the way it is to offend bad people doesn’t bother me, but I am worried about the knock on effects of weird being more heavily perceived as negative over time.
