Agreed the Hive app sucks
You can control Hive lights (idk about heating) from Google Home or Amazon Alexa app (and probably apples equivalent too)
The Alexa app also kinda sucks, but the Google home app is decent. And if you have a Pixel then it works straight from the drop down like turning Bluetooth on or off
