Added a second meaning for HA, thanks.
Mm, added a few numeronyms: i18n, l10n, a11y, k8s.
Inserted to the list, thanks.
The database is domain-specific: here in /c/selfhosted, an acronym like IP (if I had that in the list) would mean something different to a database for (say) /c/legal. General acronyms like YSK aren’t included.
Thanks; inserted: HA, LXC, SAN
You make a fine point: it’s case-sensitive, so it’d only see PiHole. Which I guess is fine…
It also doesn’t kick in until at least five comments have been left on a thread, so as not to be spammy as much as possible.
Don’t mind me, just testing acronym detection.
NAS, PiHole, MQTT
I had this exact thing with Mastodon a few days ago. Couldn’t find a way to get the local server’s post-ID for a federated post if you had the original URL, so I thought “screw it, I’ll do it myself”.
Downloaded the source, set up a local instance, added extra space to my server so I could run ElasticSearch, went to the file where I wanted to add my “uri:” search prefix, and I find (to paraphrase)…
Send
resolve=true
to fetch remote instances and return their local ID
Been there for years.
According to the Tolkien Professor (during his YouTube streams on the History of Middle Earth series) there was always the intent to publish the Quenta Silmarillion (the central tale of the Silmarils) as a First-Age story of the Elves, but it kept getting revised and rewritten and never reached a publishable form.
Until Tolkien’s son wanted to complete that piece of the legacy, and found multiple (sometimes contradictory) sets of notes and mostly-finished stories, and Editorial Decisions had to be made.
