OP, what distro are you running? You mention a whole bunch of package formats they don’t provide, but never mention what format you require. Depending on the distro, making a build script (or converting the .deb) really isn’t Rocket Surgery ™.
Hi I’m Tim.
I’m AuDHD - officially diagnosed ADHD and self-diagnosed (for now) with ASD. I also suffer from a great deal of Imposter Syndrome.
OP, what distro are you running? You mention a whole bunch of package formats they don’t provide, but never mention what format you require. Depending on the distro, making a build script (or converting the .deb) really isn’t Rocket Surgery ™.
Or, if you are running one of those distros you could just take the .deb and repackage it for whatever distro you’re running. Expecting a project to package for every distro, and then be required to support them for every release is a lot of work. And unfortunately some people have no issues expecting from others, but baulk at the idea of doing it themselves.
Sometimes it comes down to support. For every distro specific format you build and package for, the more you need to do with every release (and need the proper config and to be comfortable packaging for each).
Could always do what looks like the Arch AUR package is doing and build it yourself from source. Or if you are running a Fedora/OpenSuse distro you could find a package on COPR or something that converts a package from a .deb to .rpm and just change source and stuff to match signal.

My Atari joystick still works, it’s more my Intellivision controllers. But having a nicer way to play on a modern TV with the original games with higher quality controllers would be amazing.
Two of my favorite consoles of all time. If they could do an updated retro console based on the Intellivision II and allow playing Atari 2600 games without buying a separate adapter I would be in heaven.
I have bins of games, but my controllers did not age 40+ years all that well. 😞
Ugh, I HATE making plans that far out because who knows how I’m going to feel, what the weather is going to be like, etc.
Holy shit is that is a very bad take!
You don’t know a thing about this guy. And to put all her pain on him without knowing shit about either of them is completely out of line.
And it is possible to be surrounded by love and still have a void that cannot be filled. Just knowing you’re “different” can be a mind job in and of itself. But making this all about the dad diminishes her feelings, her pain, her guilt.

Not to completely shit on dad here either, it could well be that he is also on the spectrum and has lived in an environment that has instilled in him that you just ignore your needs because that makes you “normal”. That is why I was wondering about mom, as it is more than likely one of them is on the spectrum also and perhaps just never diagnosed and their child being diagnosed has unlocked some shit.
Anyways I’m not a psychiatrist, just going through my own adult realization of things, and it’s not easy.
I know it probably doesn’t mean much from an internet stranger, but I’m sorry for your loss. I couldn’t imagine that kind of pain, since you never expect them to go before you. 😢 Thank you for sharing your story.
She is 27 and still living at home where the article describes the dad as her caretaker. She has both an autism and ADHD diagnosis, but Dad thinks all her physical symptoms derive from her making them up, because he believes her to have an undiagnosed mental illness. I’m just one person that believes they are on the spectrum (with ADHD), but physical symptoms are real. Having a caretaker that refuses to believe you is not going to make for a great life. Especially depending on your symptoms, which again because she is 27 and still at home with a parental caretaker, I’m guessing that they are pretty involved.
Also, these are often both genetic and passed down from a parent, so where is mom in this scenario? And might that also be playing a part in this?
Anyhoo, my 2 cents.
Using that site and doing my instance to Lemmyworld , your site is listed under the working ones. I know spam has been on the rise again on big instances, so that could be playing a part in this also.
This year the Great Lakes had the least amount of ice coverage since they started tracking it via satellites in '73.
Didn’t say it was. It was an example of a group that has been recruiting via games, the point of the article.
So this isn’t about actual gamers, this about bad actors looking for chuds to recruit through games, which is not a new concept. It used to be chat rooms, and then forums, then social media, now games (as many have social features).
I mean the US military, among others, have been using gaming to recruit people already.
I have not played the original so I can’t do a comparison. I play on Linux with a Nvidia 3060Ti and fame runs fine, no real issues yet. If you read the forums though, it’s like any other game and does have some bugs for some people. It also being a souls like, means that it’ll never have enough of X or Y or Z for everyone. People complain it’s too hard, some that it’s too easy, some people hate invasions, others think that constant invasions make it better. I would watch a video or two with some game play and you could probably quickly tell if you would want to try it yourself. It also has multiple endings that you can’t do in one run, unlike a lot of the Elden Ring ending where you can then choose at the end.
I disagree, and think it brings all sorts of new takes on the Souls Like formula. But in the end we don’t have to agree and just play what we enjoy. ᕕ( ᐛ )ᕗ
Currently playing Lords of the Fallen. I’m almost to the end, it’s been a lot of dying, but a lot of fun also!
What percentage of Signal users is “grandma” that uses Linux and would be messaging from her PC? I would have to imagine the overwhelming vast majority of Signal users are on mobile only, so packaging for specific distros is probably far down the priority list.
