Yep, I’m European, I had my savings in a world ETF until last week when I pulled them out. Right now, they’d be higher than they were when I sold. Does it hurt a bit? Sure. Do I even consider going back in? Fuck no.
This kinda volatility is great if you’re a degenerate gambler or have the insider knowledge. I’m neither of these things and I’m in a personal situation where I don’t know when I’m gonna need these funds, ideally it’s in 20/30 years but no guarantees, and also I’m not in a position to keep buying monthly right now and since the last couple of years.
Now I’m just gonna sit on it for a while, and find ways to park my savings as far from the US as possible, certainly not in a world fund anymore which are 60/70% US exposure.
Congrats, they successfully pushed me and many like me out of the market so they can keep “the game” to themselves.
Based instance name.
The issue with chlorinated chicken isn’t about the chlorine itself, it’s because it’s a process used to counter unsafe/dirty farming conditions, and can make it harder to detect the bacteria and salmonella in the end product.
Was also coming in to recommend mirrors edge, what a great game.
It’s an arms race, it’s all silly and I mostly have made the choice of not participating, even if it’s definitely making my career harder, but if you are trying to participate, what else are you gonna do when everyone else is doing it I guess?
We’re in sync then, your initial comment made it sound like you thought any camera work was not creative by default. As I said to the other guy I should’ve used a different phrasing to clear out the confusion around tool/artist.
You’re entirely right, I should have phrased it differently.
Cameras aren’t creative?.. Guess we need to tell all the photographers and filmmakers out there…
Yeah this is the remote shooting app, for camera control, it’ll use Bluetooth to establish connection with the camera and then switch to WiFi for live view.
Maybe they’re very skilled and managed to get into position in such a way that it didn’t trigger the system, which is otherwise normally tuned, but yeah you’re most likely correct. Also good to know, more advanced skiers use higher DIN settings (harder to release) to enable them to ski harder on rough terrain without the skis coming off.
Ooh that makes sense, what an idiot, probably a head full of kartoffelsalat!

Yeah, Adobe sucks major ass but while I’ve been meticulous for quite a few years to choose software that’s either FOSS or at least had native Linux versions, I can’t see myself doing the photography stuff in the alternatives. I’m moving more and more away from that work for moving images instead and the main programs I use for that do work (DaVinci resolve, blender). Thank you!
I’m a pretty advanced user on Windows and I sometimes use the command prompts but it’s pretty darn rare, and I certainly don’t have any commands memorized. I have a couple basic commands memorized for the run tool but even that rarely comes up. I don’t tinker with my machine for the sake of it though, ideally I want it to “just work” and I’d want the same thing from Linux. And I do want that but unfortunately there’s a few programs I need for my work that don’t run on it (namely lightroom and Photoshop). Spending time on Lemmy did make me want to install a dual boot mint though, I have a separate drive for it I need to move from my old machine, doing that soon^tm.
This particular program would work great in combination with old school German/Dutch toilets with the poop shelf, take a pic after the deed and let the program tell you how you need to adjust your diet.
Spring always does that to me, suddenly I’m 17 again wandering around my old french countryside/town.
Now add the fact I’m my own boss (so no real weekends, there’s always work to do) and have a small child and the feelings of guilt are coming in regardless, either I’m neglecting my work, or my child! It’s a win-win!
If only they all jumped right at the same time.
