My go-to solution is to use a vm and pass it raw access to the os disk on my normal desktop. Then I just put the disk into the server.

My dad is one of them. Always says that stuff does not matter. I once asked him if he followed the instructions closely and said yes. I did not believe him and so asked every point in the list individually. For every every instruction he told me that he didn’t do that.

I certainly don’t care if others get the game other ways (except unauthorized key stores). I am just happy that good games get their recognition and give people joy. I am in the fortunate situation that I am able to just buy all games I want. Heck, I even bought games for friends who were unsure or even dismissive “if it would be worth it”. I also buy/bought games that I never played or won’t play but watched streamers play it.

This statement reminds me awfully of the Living World Season 4 Story in Guild Wars 2.

And yes, before people become angry about this comparison: I said “reminds me”, not “the same as” or anything else.

Explanation (hard spoiler!):

I did not even know that a DLC came out. I am sure I would have if it was good news because streamers I follow would have tested it.

But it is so sad. I really liked cities skylines because it basically is what I wanted from sim city. But with a million mods it would always break at certain points and force me to stop playing. I had such high hopes with 2 but seeing this game at launch and now seemingly still broken is so… well I am not really sure how I (should) feel.

The good thing is, that I do not have to keep reading and researching but rather wait for some “news” to pop up in my feed again. So I can get back to forgetting about it.

Jumping from the default kernel with zfs to the xanmod kernel using a manually compiled version of zfs. I don’t rememeber a whole lot but it was quite… interesting. Next would be a suddenly vanished efi partition and my f* mainboard refusing to boot ZBM.

Bonus: my currently still unfixed problem is a very weird freezing/stuttering of the whole OS and the only (useless) “lead” I have is workqueue: fill_page_cache_func hogged CPU for >10000us 4 times, consider switching to WQ_UNBOUND

I have never seen an implementation of e.g. a mirror that gives up on disagreements of both disks. Repairing/redundnancy is what raid is there for.

I am currently using the new outlook desktop version and there are rules. However, they seem to have cut “local only” stuff. I suspect that they moved the execution server side.

Not sure if it is equal on all distros but on every one I have used it’s a readable string of muliple components. One of them is “usb” for a usb mass storage, so if it is the only one you have connected to your computer it is very obvious. For like sata disks it has the manufacturer and serial on it so you can match what drive it is you want to write to. Also, the name is pretty unique (on your sysytem at least, globally I don’t know), so even if you swap hardware around, you cannot write to the wrong storage if you got the right name. Like “sdb” can be reassigned, but the id is an id.

I don’t get why I would ever have to read announcements. I put the game on the wishlist and got the notification that it is available. I only knew of the post because I watched a streamer play it for a bit and one in chat mentioned the announcement and the streamer read the message out loud. At the very least they should have marked it early access.

I would like to suggest my wooting keyboard. It is not quiet but i think their switches should qualify as linear. Not sure about the layout but I have the german layout so that might be a “yes”? I have the 100% variant. Sorry, i am not very deep into keyboards.

Their config tool is basically a website, so as long as you have a browser with webusb support on a system it works. Had some problems with the udev rules (most likely a “me” problem), so I used the desktop version instead.

Bonus you get is that the switches are an analog input. So you can change mode to analog and have like “slow walking” in games. Though, I have not tested that yet.

BUT it is hella expensive.

I also have cheap paddles (i think that that is the right word?) off amazon i use often. But the “support” is basically that the config is saved on the device so you config it once in wndows and that was it. I just bound it to random keys once and assign them in games. Would need to dig up what the paddles are called though.

As I said in another thread, I do not check compatibility anymore beforehand. I install and select the newest glorious eggroll proton in steam and it works. Granted, I play only indie games, so if you play competitive with anticheat I would stay on windows to be safe and avoid the hassle or suspended account.

In regards to performance I don’t know if I am missing out.

I don’t because every time I fall in a weird pitfall where like /tmp is different or samba shares can’t be accessed. Or the UI is blindingly white instead of dark like the rest of the system. Though, I can’t remember on which one I had problems (probably both), it was some time ago and just gave up on them.
