I think it’s a combination of nostalgia and the fact that SML1 had levels, enemies and music that were super unique compared to other Mario games before or after.
SML2 is a better game on the technical side of things but nothing in it blew me away or was memorable enough for me to recall with super clarity like I do with 1.
I’ll always prefer SML 1.
But I do fondly remember this.
I’m one of those older Trekkies who will complain about the aesthetic choices of the DSC sets.
My view is that there is a certain style with sci-fi shows of this nature that are part of their identity.
Large swings in design choices are very distracting to the point of being off putting to me unless there is good reason for it.
One thing I absolutely applaud Disney for is how they’ve managed to modernize but still keep the 70s aesthetics in their Star Wars shows. And I wish Trek had followed the same path.

That was true of the first gen batteries. They lasted a year and then stopped holding a charge.
There are second gen batteries that seem to be holding up better, I’ll be going into my third year with them soon so we’ll see.
I think the per capita measurement of pollution for China is not really an apples to apples comparison to other first world nations as so much of their population lives in poverty.

It’s a chicken and egg situation.

I’ll tell you, I have my setup to the point where I go to one website, subscribe to a show, and episodes of that show appear to watch on my TV same day they are released.
I also set myself up to get email alerts telling me what new episodes I have to watch when they are done being downloaded.
… Setting all that up took me awhile and will take tech skills. But now that it’s set up, it’s zero touch aside from adding new shows.
Plus, I never have to worry about trying to find where to stream at it and even if my Internet goes out I can still watch my shows
