It sucks that those are our choices doesn’t it? Live with a little loneliness but a lot of peace and joy , or not lonely but also harassed and always second, third ,or not even there.

Like you, I’ve left the entire idea behind. I dated quite a bit once I was single and was always disappointed. The pool is just not there, at least where I live.

I am way more happy though, and just made peace with things. None of us gets everything in life, I’ve had lots of fun and love my work. I think that is success at this point.

I went to join Planet Fitness, they insist on an app. They watched me leave. Kroger charged more than advertised, ooooh it was a digital coupon only available through the app. I left the item with the cashier. Order out? Only on an app? I guess I didn’t want to eat that so much anyway.

Edit to add: I don’t know how we are going to deal with apps that are forced upon you, that feels really gross especially if you are younger, like at your school. Forced commodification should be illegal.

Not going to do it, it feels controlling and abusive and I’ve worked too damn hard to let that shit go on.

Wow, I’d never heard of this . Just now playing the video. This is indeed a terrifying decision to protect a very corrupt man, and a system that allowed him to do these things.

This is such a hard thing to see and then to accept as real and truthful. It hurts horribly, so so painful. When I think of what she gave in order to be there for him, it hurts even more. When I finally faced this about my ex ,I cried so hard I couldn’t breath. I couldn’t share the same room with him, it felt like a betrayal to me.
However, to him? It was just the water we all swim in. Heartbreaking for both parties I think. That he shouldn’t experience love in any depth is also tragic.

Wow, mine did the same thing. Eventually he treated my work as an enemy to compete with, which was detrimental because my work is a part of me, it’s not a place I go to, it’s my craft. Much like being a writer. I was the one who would “not work” if the kids were sick etc, he thought very little of my contributions (which were good) to our bills etc. Like I should just presto magic money into being after not being able to work, he’d act as if I was just not working hard enough.

Even at tax return time, he literally was shocked when I told him we should be sharing the refund and he refused.

Eventually, he lost this war , and I’m happily growing in my field. I really wanted to be married, I didn’t want to end our marriage but I couldn’t face myself with this treatment and he couldn’t understand what I was saying.

I can personally attest to this, from my experience, as well as stories friends have told me. It is much worse with older male doctors, also as women age this type of treatment occurs more often. Also, black women get the worst of it, as many recent studies show. Mortality rates during pregnancy are terrifying.

Aye, I left when they started up their bs in Canada. I will very grudgingly turn it on once Three Body Problem is out and then turn it right back off. Or even, if I can buy TBP from another streamer or DVD , I’ll wait and do that. This greedy crap from Netflix is personal to me. So sick of greed.

Egregious is the perfect word, I can only add that the adds are offensively stupid as well, and loud. I’ve been clicking back and forth until the content comes on but now it’s three times at least. I’ll install one of these ad blockers now but the real problem still isn’t solved. I’d love to leave the platform altogether but don’t know of an alternative. I tried PeerTube at one point but that was a dumpster fire , at least at the time I peeked in.

The other thing I hate about YT is the obvious click baiting the platform does, over the creators wishes. If I’m not clicking on any of the videos, the thumbnail images get weirder and crazier until I just leave the whole mess. Anyone else noticed this? It’s like they are convinced this will gain more engagement and maybe it does but I hate it and feel manipulated and degraded by it.
