DLC is literally just DownLoadeable Content
So like… I don’t get the hate for a specific method of providing content. Like, there’s obviously a difference between Factorio’s Space Age, and what The Sims does, even though they are both DLC.
Except the projects take decades, skyrocket in costs and get delayed for decades on top.
France is doing just fine with none of those issues.
Society routinely expects particular groups of people to change so that other groups don’t have to. Society itself is unfairly expecting us to change, and why should we?

They're responding to the "Light Bulb Companies" part, not the "selling quality products" part. That video very clearly (10-15 mins too long) shows that Light Bulb Companies had legitimate reasons for limiting light bulb hours.
While the Phoebus Cartel may have artificially limited the lifespan of lightbulbs, there was a legitimate reason to do so, and it wasn't just planned obsolescence so you buy more.

It’s because their contracts are exploitive, not because of piracy. Piracy is almost always done by someone who wouldn’t have paid (Whether because of lack of ability or choice) anyway. A large majority of people pirating can’t afford the content (Which means they wouldn’t have been a paying customer if pirating wasn’t an option), can’t get it legally (Which means they wouldn’t have been a paying customer if pirating wasn’t an option), wouldn’t have bought it anyway out of principle (Which means they wouldn’t have been a paying customer if pirating wasn’t an option), or (Mostly in the case of games) they’re trying it out to see if it’s worth it.
This idea that everyone that pirates could and would buy it if pirating wasn’t an option is completely false. Most of them just wouldn’t consume the content if pirating wasn’t an option.
