The problem is Canada needs America to be strong. We are stronger together. So the idea of “taking down America” isn’t smart.
The entire world benefits from a strong America.

I started responding with “toys, cleaning supplies, phone cases, etc.” And then I noticed I was responding to a post on ** [email protected]**
So I felt like my response wouldn’t be as helpful or would be off-topic because I was responding on the programming.dev instance.

I start to respond to a post or comment that I see on NEW. I finish and right before I hit post, I notice the instance/server is completely unrelated to my response and I deleted my post :) - It’s an added nuance to Lemmy that takes some getting used to.
Back before the Canadian dollar was at or near par, we’d visit the US from Toronto monthly. We’d roll up to the outlets and score deals. I’d pick up parcels from my cross-border PO box. And then once we were all shopped out, we’d treat ourselves to a quality meal at Olive Garden and be on our merry way. Some nights we’d even get a room at the nearby casino, drop some money at the penny slots.
Since 2016, in addition to the low Canadian dollar, the political climate and the rise of anti-intellectuals have really forced us to think twice about spending any time across the border.
It used to be a fun day trip with great deals and cheap food. It’s not the case anymore.
Ford is getting high on his brother’s crack stash again. He pulls this ‘for the people’ act to gain public support. Then once he’s sitting pretty he’ll start doing the bidding for his wealthy friends for kickbacks.
Don’t believe the hype. Ford killed millions of people during Covid. He slashed healthcare and public education and environmental protections while his friends got richer
