To be fair, most of The Wolf of Wall Street really happened, including Jordan Belfort going to prison, however things are way different in the current corrupt politically charged environment.

Also Jordan Belfort managed to get rich again off of his crimes, through his books and Marty Scorcese turning him into one of the worst unironically idolized villains not named Joker or Patrick Bateman.

This blog post is kind of biased but it has good links to some of the articles about the times that Snowden has “toed the party line” for Putin’s regime. So mamy articles coming up in those useless garbage we now call search engines just pull up where Snowden has sworn an oath to Russia and has been given citizenship so therefore he’s eligible to go fight Ukraine now, rather than things more related to my search.

He’s in Russia now being used as a propaganda mouthpiece against the West, that’s how he survives, by doing whatever Russian intel tells him to do.

This isn’t totally a knock against him, he was caught between a rock and a hard place, and chose the “be used by dictators” route, rather than the “definitely go to prison for a while” route.

We just need better whistleblower protections and oversight here in the states, but if anything the spying on us has gotten worse since Snowden, while also still allowing for Internet Nazis to spread like a cancer with almost no pushback.

Which is a fair point, but also at the local level is where it’s more challenging, because not only are you getting involved with things that more directly affect you, but also you can make yourself a target to those that want to push change in the other direction, so of course not everyone is up to that task and that’s why the overly aggressive conservatives constantly eat our lunches on the local level, and why they tend to scare off folks trying to change things at the local level.

This is happening all across the country, it’s why many of the more moderate Republicans have resigned or left their party, their districts, and it’s a barrier for Left leaning folks. I believe in Margorie Taylor Greene’s district one of the contenders against her was harassed and threatened to the point of dropping out of the race.

The Left needs brave people that are ready to lay their lives on the line for what we believe, the stakes are as high as they’ve ever been, and so is the danger, and it’s not like we can count on the authorities to do their jobs to protect us, because they’ve clearly shown that they are either incapable or unwilling, especially the fact that the thin blue line flag now flies in every law enforcement building, and if anything that flag is synonymous with fascism, MAGA, and police protectionism from consequences.

Joe Biden is not wrong when he says that this election is “a battle for the soul of the nation” because quite obviously it is, and if Trump is elected there will he no progress made politically against this type of stuff anytime soon.
