Can you imagine the fucking mess comment threads would be like that? 😂
A single sentence, in a small font?
I could see the pillars of Lemmy crashing down even now. /s

Thank you! Didn’t know the artist’s work.
George Strait called it in 1986
Any particular song you are referring to?
From the article …
Thwaites, which already contributes 4% to global sea level rise, holds enough ice to raise sea levels by more than 2 feet. But because it also acts as a natural dam to the surrounding ice in West Antarctica, scientists have estimated its complete collapse could ultimately lead to around 10 feet of sea level rise — a catastrophe for the world’s coastal communities.
That’s a lot of beachfront and riverside properties that would end up going underwater.
Fellow gamers, now is the time to push back on this crap. If you don’t do it now, you’ll live with this forever. They tried doing this in past generations as well, and failed.
Spread the word, tell others. Be vocal! Advocate for this not happening.
And if someone tells you that this isn’t preventable, tell them not to be cynical. Remind them of the other positive changes we were able to have happen recently in gaming, and that in the past when they tried this, the pushback was successful in keeping the gaming companies from doing so.
And remember, some of those you would try to convince are probably astroturfers/bots.

Don’t think of it as them being unprofessional, think of it as them having a safety valve to relieve the pressure of some people wanting to leave Reddit for Lemmy or elsewhere, because of their bs.
Someday, when they’re confident enough that they have customer retention locked in, that methodology of bypassing will be removed.
What that comic tells me is that everyone loves standards, as long as they’re the ones controlling the standard.
A lot of people misunderstand economic systems by anthropomorphizing (it means to give them human characteristics) them, giving them the illusion of thought or feeling.
Just in case that was directed at me, versus part of your overall opining, I do not.
It’s an economic and social system, ‘Bartering 2.0’, and not a mechanical or otherwise thing.
Good opinion piece overall though.
One of the worst things about Capitalism is that many a time it’s cheaper to do the wrong thing, than the right thing. It promotes doing the wrong thing.
I don’t want to ask any kind of LLM anything at all. Ugh.
While my default/off-the-cuff answer would be the same as yours, if I travelled fifty years into the future, and had a ‘discussion’ with a LLM that was specific to the topic being discussed, I would probably be ok with that (as long as it was programmed properly and trained on good (not cheapest) data).
Time will tell, but the future will pimp slap you if you try to avoid it. Best to surf it the best you can.
Not sure if I would want to ask the kind of LLM that’s programmed from that site about romance / love life questions.
Thanks.

You’re a little late to the party. Also, better to read it from here: What is the Anti Commercial-Al license and why do people keep adding it to their comments?
He’s right guys. Get off your *sses and pitch a tent in the grassy area of your local US university. Show Sony you’re not going to put up with this!

That sarcasm doesn’t help solve anything.
Edit: Neither does downvoting.
The last screenshot is the most important one to pay attention to.
(Apologizing in advance, a bit of a rant incoming…)
People can’t just bitch about it on an online forum and then do nothing after that, that doesn’t solve anything. You have to be proactive, you have to get off your ass, if you truly want change and to be treated respectfully as a customer. Otherwise, you get what you deserve.
They know the standard M.O. of a gamer, its to complain but then do nothing, and they take advantage of that.
Edit: And I’m talking especially to those who are downvoting my comment. Just bitching and downvoting does’t change/fix anything.
Juno: New Origins. It is currently on sale on Steam. It’s also developed by like, 8 people or something like that. It’s a ridiculously small team.
Thank you! I’ll be sure to check it out.
Edit: You’re right, it’s on sale for only $8. I picked it up.
(BTW, I don’t work for anyone, not getting a cut from any of its sales, etc. etc.)
But anyways, Juno exists. It has the same spirit of accurate spaceship design and flight simulation, even if the tone is distinctly different.
Would you happen to have a link for that? My Google-Fu is wanting in trying to find more information about it.
I’m not the same person you dimwit
Fair enough. I’m getting broadsided from many people, easy to lose track, especially multi-comments later down in the stack.
But, you’re still breaking rule 2.
Personally I suggest Fedora with KDE.
It has a great update cadence time frame, and good hardware support (indirectly backed by IBM). And games really well in Steam/Proton.
That’ll get you the most Windows like experience on Linux, for an average user who doesn’t like to tinker much and just wants it to work out of the box.
Just make sure to accept third party libraries / apps when you first install. It’s a single checkbox that you click.
