No way Im running linux on a Mac. That’s what a raspberry pi is for.
That ain’t gonna happen.
Thank you for this post. I was hoping I could ask you a couple of questions because I also had to make some modifications to get Lemmy up and running. I don’t have email yet because my isp blocks post 25 and I haven’t gotten around to requesting an unblock yet.
I see you’ve modified your hjson file to use gmail. The default config syntax for email is:
email: {
smtp_server: "postfix:25"
smtp_from_address: "noreply@{{ domain }}"
tls_type: "none"
}```
My question is, can I just drop in your email syntax with my information and the instance will use gmail instead of the default?
shitjustworks seems like one of the few really good instances.
I can’t get into calling subs “magazines”. Communities is much better.
When the API changes were announced, for the first time I started thinking I should leave reddit. This coin thing was just kicking me while I was down. Ok, they want to get rid of awards for a new system. But you also want to remove them from past posts?? And you’re not going to convert coin balances into anything?
Those are the things a company that has no regard for it’s users does.
Reminds me of when the internet was new.
I’ve only been on Lemmy a few days but I’ve modded nearly 150 subs in my time. I’m not sure I’m ready to commit to moderating on lemmy yet, but I’m thinking about it.
How much moderation is needing to take place?
This is what got me to commit.
Me too, I have three of them now plus an old chromebook that I rooted and installed linux on when the price of a PI was skyhigh during the pandemic. The chromebook set me back $40. Installing PeppermintOS on it was pretty easy.
