Test it yourself. Try saying anything positive about him. Say he has nice eyes, I don’t care, and watch the downvotes flow.
As a matter of fact don’t even be positive, be neutral. Say something like, “I haven’t formed an opinion on this yet” and watch what happens.
I dunno, man. Sometimes I’m really concerned with the echo chamber here. If you look at Lemmy and Reddit, it’s nothing but an Elon-hating amphitheatre, yet objectively, the guy still seems to be soaring up all the lists that matter.
So, something isn’t right. The guy is obviously popular in places that matter, and it’s worrying that places like this never, ever, ever show it.
I’d like to think Lemmy isn’t one-sided and biased but it clearly is.
And for the record, I’m not pro or anti-Elon. I’m not plugged in (or care) enough to know shit about the guy. But what I’m not going to do is Boomer-lean into one source and parrot the sentiment. Isn’t that what us Gen-Ys and Gen-Zs are supposed to despise, and be too internet savvy to fall for, or are we following our parents into ignorance?

I used to overthink travel to the point where I just wouldn’t do it, and had never left my country. My ex just used to see a deal online, book it for 6 months in the future regardless of cost or details, and work it out later. I used to have meltdowns. But with her, I visited 5 countries on 2 continents.
It’s been 7 years since we split and I’ve continued on on with her carefree style of organising travel. I just see shit, throw it on the credit card, and make my life align to it. I’ve since visited another 7 countries across 3 more continents.
Same with the Google Nest Hub.
It cost me around $600 and has a known splash-screen issue which I just woke up to one morning.
No fix available when it happens. Nothing I did caused it. I just had to bin it.

I’ve worked with massive customer databases of over a million people multiple times in jobs I’ve had. And while each company has spent tens-of-thousands of dollars in cyber security to protect that data from outside hackers, none have given any fucks at all about who accessed it internally or what they do with it.
I’ve literally exported the entire customer database in two different jobs, dropped the CSV into my personal Google Drive (from my work computer), and worked entire databases at home.
No one has ever known I’ve done it, cared, or checked if I have any customer personal data when I quit.
Yeah I truly hope petitions work but everything I’ve ever signed hasn’t done shit. I think petitions are just a way of letting us think we have a voice.
