Zapp’s line in futurama is literally parodying that saying. By thinking the dictionary is in any way referencing the Futurama scene, you have revealed that you didn’t even get the joke in the first place.

I’d say it’s fairly clear Matthew was just a time traveling Futurama fan and hypnotoad had it right all along.
