    It’s a validation thing if not a competitive thing. They want/need the most points or to feel like there’s support for their views. Just a bit of sociology

      I can agree. I think it also has a bit to do with the “bigger number, better person” mentality. A lot of games use this to get players hooked on mechanics, like damage for example. It’s always fun to go from 2 damage per hit to 200 damage per hit. Nobody wants their damage to go down, it should only go up. Having your damage go down feels bad.

        Absolutely and let’s not down play just the dopamine hit and the value placed on it through thinks like Facebook/Instagram/Reddit over the last number of years
