Most workers in the US are barred from claiming unemployment benefits if they go on strike, penalizing them for exercising one of their most fundamental rights. New legislation in California and elsewhere is trying to rectify that injustice.
And here in Finland our new government – the most right wing in the history of the country and with multiple literal neo-Nazis – is looking into limiting the ability to strike. They want to define legal strikes so that they can only affect the parties of the strike, meaning that any strike that actually has an effect on anybody would be illegal. Public transport, cargo, healthcare, you name it, no more striking if it’d mean eg. missed shifts. They’d also bump up fines for illegal strikes by 1000x
