FYI, Stamets has left Lemmy :(
Apparently I missed something.
Yeah. He made a post, that he ended up deleting, then removed himself as mod and left.
Not liking this trend, what with FlyingSquid’s exit. Damn shame, but if leaving is better for their peace of mind, then I can only hope it’s for the best.
Yes, I wish them both well and hope their departure helps their well being.
Something a little less morbid.
Much better indeed
I hope they’re still around, under a pseudonym.
Sometimes you gotta declare social bankruptcy to recenter yourself.
It looks like he auto-deleted everything. I wish he had been able to leave up the last post so we could read it. I suppose we aren’t entitled to it but it would have been nice if it had worked out that way:-).
Any chance you can recall the gist? Was modding too much responsibility or something?
In short: Reddit-ification of Lemmy
As in proliferation of lowest common denominator jokes? Because I can see that.
That, and some communities having petty-tyrant mods, and admins of some instances the same.
But… Tenforward isn’t that way, and someone can always go elsewhere to other instances or even other platforms - e.g. I’m over here on PieFed:-). I did consider leaving myself if I couldn’t block all the political posts from Lemmy.ml prior to the USA election, so I’m glad PieFed gave me the option to stay.
In any case, I hope Stamets finds peace irl by touching grass (and I very much hope he returns someday after that!:-).
So…reddit
Sir, there is no speed setting labelled “ramming”…
There is, however, one for Ludicrous Speed.
Helmsman: “Sir, you better buckle up.”
Worf: “Ah, buckle this.”
I suspect what it means is turning down the limiter in the impulse engines (they have max impulse around 0.3c, IIRC, to minimize time dilation being an issue). Because otherwise it’d be warp speed. Which would really get the job done. It’s the premise behind my warp missile saturation bombardment plan for exterminating the Borg.
I gotta wonder seriously if whatever happened was during “Supernova”. Because then I can believe that.
