I already do, I live on a back road that sees maybe 20 cars a day. I have a beautiful view. I’m an hour away from a large town with everything in it, so I’m close enough to any of that when I want it, yet I’m far enough that my cost of living is low. The town with a school, grocery store, hardware store, bars, clinic, etc is less than 10 minutes. 4 bigger towns with more jobs and more store options are 30-35 minutes with hospitals as well.

I can walk out of my house and be in nature almost instantly. I don’t have to drive anywhere.

Yeah I can’t call and have food delivered and I can’t walk to any shops but I consider myself in the perfect balance of remote and having access to what I want/need. Unless I go to a nursing home, my only move from my current house will be from it to six feet under.

  • I haven’t stopped but I’ve slowed down. Pretty natural considering I’m in my early 30’s. Between having two kids, taking on more responsibilities, not taking hangovers as well, and all our friends having less time as well, I drink a fraction of what I did in my early 20’s.

I’m much more productive as I get up fairly early even on weekends now, and generally feel like doing something instead of being tired/hungover. That’s good because now is the time to spend time with kids and set up myself for the rest of my life.

  • Really not sure if it counts as meditation, but sitting in nature.

I’m an avid bow hunter of whitetail deer. While I do enjoy the part of predator and prey, and a bonus of putting food on the table, the real reason I hunt is to go sit in nature for awhile.

I climb up into a tree, hang my bow, put on my release. If it’s morning, watching the sun come up in the woods and all the daytime creatures wake up is quite enjoyable. In the evening, watching the sun go down and all the daytime creatures settling in, and the nighttime ones coming out. I’m a spectator to the world we live in outside of society.

It’s quiet, I blend in, I’m as scent free as possible, and I sit still and quiet and I feel like a part of the woods around me. It makes me feel connected to the land and how I am one small part of the world we live in. It’s as close as I will get to any form of reality our ancient ancestors had.
