The Country is not the Continent.
Sure, the singular cultural/political/religious “those people”.

Geostorm. Fun enough throwaway Gerard Butler movie.
I mean that’s everything. There isn’t a “movie of the summer” anymore really, no I Love Lucy / Cheers / Friends / Simpsons that basically everyone is watching or familiar with. It’s been true for longer with books/music because of the lower gateways to entry and being able to be a “local artist”, but not by much, and even for them it’s exploded since the Internet became mainstream.
The democratization of publication has dramatically broadened the type and quality of things being made and no industry titans really have figured out how to promote around that. At least not consistently.
There’s plenty of publishers putting out interesting games.
They’re just not the traditional AAA / “AAAA” games companies because they’ve grown so big they’re hidebound.
The second one.
Mirroring is good for speed, but a storage mechanism with parity checks will always be more recoverable. And you will have far more storage available.
Drop bears attack from the South.
This feels like the second round of this going around as the AI articles / lazy sites pick it up.
It’s a doc ‘sent’ to one guy who had 12 followers on medium before this started blowing up. It was edited after it was sent out to be the real marketing email of the company instead of a gmail address. The doc is still owned by that gmail account, which isn’t typically how companies operate.
I guess they’re getting their viral moment so good for them for generating content?
Would love to get in on this if you’re still going.
They played with it in DS9.
Quark is disgusted his mom is a “twisted degenerate” that campaigns for (Ferengi) women’s rights and wears clothes around the house and such.
The prequels had a mountain of books/comics/shows backing them up and filling out the parts that were lacking. ( i.e. the huge gapping holes in tone and execution ).
The sequels… there’s not much to salvage. They’re more very pretty hole than substance. To the point there haven’t been more than a handful of attempts and they’ve basically been ignored/sidestepped.
“Maybe we should have planned the trilogy” - JJ after RoS
Disney allocated a billion dollars to a trilogy of movies and didn’t even ask for outlines of scripts first. I know JJ is “mystery box guy” and all but the amount of hubris to think they could just wing it on the strength of the IP is staggering.
As someone who loves it, It’s less a game and more a story generator. Until the company was hired to do the nicer graphics and interface for the Steam version it was a math PhD and his brother programming it as a work-in-progress complete fantasy world simulator. It still is but now it’s prettier. It feels very comfortable to call it the most complex game on Steam. Rimworld and Minecraft among others took direct inspiration from it, he’s been working on it awhile.
Famous patch notes include fixing cats dying from alcohol poisoning because they walked through a puddle of beer before cleaning themselves, egg yolk and egg white having different fluid densities, and nerfing mer-people farming because that’s just disturbing.
Would be interested in seeing/reading more about it, don’t have/want the subscription to read the white paper. Just seems like it could be somewhat like mirrors where it’s important for the glass to be liquid at one point so there’s no distortions and a strong bond but then once it’s constructed it just sits there.
And before that there were several decades of massive incentive to develop smaller more powerful ICE engines.
Lithium probably has some room to grow, but it also has a lot of problems like volatility and materials sourcing. EV manufacturers have been searching for ways to make better/cheaper/denser batteries, not better/cheaper/denser lithium batteries. They’ve been actively searching for alternatives.
It does say “during assembly […] to form a solid current collector while maintaining a liquid-like contact with the electrolyte”.
After it’s made it could be not under pressure at all.
Minishoot’ Adventures $11.99 (20% off)
Isometric Zelda / Metroidvania / bullet hell with a lot of accessibility features and neat art where you’re a lil spaceship guy. Has a demo to see if it’s your jam. Already beat it twice, would really love for them to make DLC or a sequel.
anti-fascist freedom fighter story
I mean that’s arguably what Star Wars is.
The Prequels and Sequels each flubbed it in their own way by being either too meandering or too self-obsessed, but Andor is basically a forceless movie trilogy broken into episodes.
RotJ is where Lucas started to not have pushback on story ideas. It still mostly works but some silliness is leaking through. Especially in the Special Edition, but Empire is the only one that really wasn’t effected by those.
Doom 2016 and Eternal had multiplayer season stuff, but it could easily be ignored.
Yeah at least with their parts lists the material cost is ~$134. So even the places selling kits for $150 are offering a pretty good deal for putting it all in a box for you. ( I assume they’re able to make some savings buying in bulk but still)
