Only way to get through dread is to go through with it. If you want something to stop, finish it. I have pretty light adhd, but for me it was like steeling my mind before base jumping. Sometimes you don’t want to do something. You’re scared or tired but you must FORCE yourself to do it. I have a mantra that kind of helps me. I tell my self that I must do what must be done. I have both a layered internal monologue, and highly visual thinking. There are some benefits, but on of the draw backs of noticed is feeling less aware of what’s going on in front of me. My visual thinking kinda takes over what my eyes see a little and I loose focus really easy

Basically but it’s better, nix has a unique way of doing the underlying the logic which as is own benefits. Also since nix is not a container it doesn’t have any of the speed penalties that come along with that. Since nix is functional as well, it means all operations can be undone. So where you might te build a docker image from scratch or by using a A/B system like other immutable distros it allows nix to just modify the system while it’s running with minimal side effects.

Everything about your OS is defined in a config files and can be rebuilt. You break something you don’t need to do a complete reinstall if you can’t figure it out. Just rebuild the last working configuration. Sharing builds with your friends is easier.

For gaming getting your graphics card going is much simpler. I never had steam and proton games run as well as they do with they nixos defaults

No but it’s silly and whiny, people listen to weird complaints like this and form opinions without trying the operating system. People who frustrate them selves trying to do unnecessary super user work put a bad face on the system. There are definitely difficult parts to Linux but unless youre trying to do super obscure shit you really won’t run in to issues. It’s like someone trying to drive a car and screaming “the blinker isn’t in the same spot as my last car, the gear shift is different then my last car why is it so bad? Hey Google why does my car look like shit after I spray painted it?” It’s annoying and weird. Linux does have a cult but so does windows that’s just as annoying it’s just not here on lemmy

It’s so funny, I’m not sure what youre trying to do in Linux but it sounds like you are using it wrong. If you’re struggling to game and are not used to like just know Linux gaming support is low that’s why you are running in to issues. If you are a programmer and running into issues I suggest you go back to college or invest in learning more fundamentals about the tools you are using. If you are just someone trying to use a computer to get on Google to check your bank account or look at memes I’m confused on to what issues you are running into
