Can’t believe the :.|:; is still being felt all these years alter
I vaguely remember the Nvidia driver generating tons of log files, so many that they piled up over years and filled my drive
Has anybody tried to get TempleOS to run Doom?
I understand some of these words
You are technically correct. I should have said physical media
I really like the comparison of analog media with camping!
Since owning a CD player i use my CDs more now than i did in 2010. Unfortunately Discogs shipping fees mean i can’t buy most of the things i want
It’s not even a matter of bullying: NFTs disappeared because they were fundamentally not viable, and there’s a good chance that generative AI is also not viable.
Generating an output is extremely computationally expensive, which is a problem because you need several attempts to get an acceptable output (at least in terms of images). This service can’t stay free or cheap forever, and once it starts being expensive, that’s also a problem in itself since generative AI is most suited to generate large amounts of low-profit content.
For example, earlier this month, Deviantart highlighted a creator that they claimed to be one of their highest earners; they made $25k “in less than a year”, which is not much for the highest earner, and they did it by posting over NINE THOUSAND images in that time. They were selling exlusives for less than $10.
The only way this makes sense is if it’s really cheap to generate that many images. Even a moderate price, multiplied by 9000, multiplied by the number of attempts each time, would have destroyed their already middling profit.
Does this matter if the traffic is encrypted, such as an https website instead of http? Like, really how often is internet traffic unencrypted?
This is a thing that annoys me and it’s not just Microsoft doing this: there’s never a “No” button, it’s always “Not now” or “Maybe later”. As if i’m going to reconsider. As if it’s an honest offer worth thinking about and not a pop-up.
All of this is cuckoo. I don’t know what it is about the audiophile market that makes it full of stuff like this. Them calling it “proprietary”, being vage about “minerals and fluids” involved and assuring us that their techniques “took years to develop”, is red flag language that i’ve heard over and over again.
Also this article is written like crap.
Oh my god, this is how 17yo me discovered what Steam is. I was forced to install it and i was SO mad.
Still using Steam 13 years later.
Ok but what’s your argument against autosave? You haven’t made one?
I would have sworn that autosave was enabled by default in absolutely every software that has anything to save since like the 2000s, you’re throwing me on a loop here.
As far as text editors actually, i feel like they may be constantly saving, particularly if they’re cloud-based. But i’ve been using LibreOffice for a while so i wouldn’t know. (and yes i did have to enable autosave)
Oh, so all those times i was stuck inside a tramway were just bad dreams i had.
You’re off the rails (intentional). I just said that i have personal experience with tramways as public transit, and i get responded with a dubious generality and a passive-agressive meme from fifteen years ago. And for some reason a whataboutism with subways??
I’ve lived in cities with trams for the past 10 years and i think buses are less cool but more practical. Installing the rails is expensive and disruptive, they take a lot of room on the street (with the stop included), and if a tram gets stuck the next one can’t go around, it just sits there and waits.
Some school of thought with the word “nihilism” in it
What does a single cell say when you step on its toes?
Mi-toes-sis
I had the exact same reaction and i don’t trust that sentiment, i think i’m just hoping for a singular miracle pill that i can take and it will solve all my issues.
Still thought it was worth a try but even getting an appointment with a psychologist of any kind was tough, so here i am still unmedicated even though i relate to a lot of ADD symptoms
