  • Compared to say arch, gentoo, lfs. ubuntu is easier to install, but I believe the point you wanted to make is that there are distros that are as easy if not easier to install than ubuntu

edit: I see now that this might have sounded more condescending than I had intended, and for that I'm sorry.

The point I wanted to make was that there are both better and worse installers out there. Which is something I enjoy about linux and the different distros. You have the option to install something easy and just use your computer as you see fit, or you can tinker and learn different ways your computer can be set up.

  • As someone who worked for an MSP, not all customers believe that they require these security measures. Especially smaller companies would jest they were too small to be a hacking target.

Many users would call in saying their users didn't work, while in truth their password was expired. We would tell them to use the sspr, and they would call back 10-15 min later and say that the sspr didn't work. So instead of going through the steps to troubleshoot something in front of them, to prove that they were lying, we would set pwgen passwords and depending on when they called and their attitude we had a scoring system and use their score for the pwgen command. After some time of doing this, fewer users would call in and more of them would learn to use the sspr

Also, windows will never brick your machine because of a full hard drive. My wife has a shitty MacBook air. She filled the drive completely. The OS can no longer function. It boots and that’s it. You can’t open anything, you can’t delete anything. Every single click says free up HDD space, even deleting files.

The almost exact same thing happened to a friend of mine using Windows 11. The machine booted, but he was unable to log in.

Also windows 10 updates has twice deleted all my files, I am now no longer on windows.

edit: Thanks to [email protected] for teaching me something new. (quotes formatting is a thing)
