Huh. I wonder what they mean by “bad user UX”. I was expecting concerns about encryption or privacy, not UX. I already use Signal, so it would be a positive for me if they federate.
How are these companies able to operate in broad daylight in the EU of all places? I mean the name itself is saying out loud what they do.
I think the part about knowing how to follow instructions is pretty much true though, at least for me. I only started cooking by myself in my mid-20s. I started by just searching a recipe and adding “simple” in my search query so I get something I can realistically make with what I have in the kitchen/pantry. Then I just follow it to the letter. Through repeated trial and error I eventually learned what could be done faster or easier, what ingredients can be substituted, etc.
It has a hard client for IOS via testflight as well.
I just say “Hey sir, start timer 15 (or whatever) minutes”. Works every time. I sometimes even ask how many minutes left.
Yup, there’s a reason there aren’t a ton of FOSS or small DDoS prevention/protection tools/services out there, and even large tech companies that may have the resources to develop their own rely on providers like Cloudflare instead. Also, to re-iterate another comment in this post, you don’t necessarily need to allow cloudflare to see your encrypted traffic if you just want DDoS protection.
I set aside some time to really browse communities and subscribe to the ones I’m interested in. My Home feed is pretty good now and isn’t just filled with memes and porn. Sure, there aren’t as much comments as reddit, but it also makes discussions more meaningful because my comments are not instantly buried in low-effort jokes and puns. I just browse All from time to time to see what else is out there and maybe discover some new communities. It also helps to have accounts on different instances because the Local feed varies too.
Meanwhile, lxde is lurking around the corner.
Every time I get home and I know I’ve been touching a lot of stuff (i.e. grocery shopping). I just wipe it down with a napkin and rubbing alcohol.
Did the original breed look anything like the current one? I was just about to say it’s uncanny how the ancient Aztecs and Egyptians had a similar looking death-related mythological thing (this dog and Anubis).
Aha DNS Blitz. Instead of an app, you install a VPN profile. The benefit is that it protects you wherever you go regardless of the connection you’re using (home wifi, mobile data, public wifi, etc.).
It’s essentially a way to get your foot through the door if you’re trying to get into the security field. I guess if you’re planning to switch roles within your current org it’s not really necessary vs trying to get hired at a new company. I haven’t checked how much they cost, but maybe you can try some of the Cisco certs as well?
The SANS ICS courses are the only ones I know that specifically focus on ICS; but yes, do not spend your own money to get expensive certs like those. Your employer should be paying on your behalf. Security+ is worth it if you’re making a lateral move to security.
This was more than a decade ago. Someone from HR mistakenly emailed a spreadsheet of all employees’ salaries to a bunch of people who aren’t authorized to see it. As part of my job, my team was tasked to track down all traces of the file on email and company workstations and remove it. Naturally I was able to see the file because of my task. I saw how low my pay was compared to my colleagues and how absurd it jumps up in just a couple of levels in rank. I and a lot of employees quit shortly after.
Oh cool we have a TLDR bot on lemmy too! Good bot.
I’m not well versed in the comic history, but I thought Apocalypse was the first mutant. I didn’t know Namor came first.
Yeah that’s where a lot of people called bullshit.
They were/are. They’re just making it official now.
I felt the third act dragged on a bit too long, but otherwise the movie was fun!
