24·1 month agoI had a scale that kept measuring! It was great! I lost so much weight in the week before the battery finally gave out! Too bad my clothes didn’t get any looser and all that weight came back on when I replaced the battery, but for a short moment in time weight loss became super easy! Turned out there was a reason other scales stopped measuring lol.
Depending on the elasticity of the brain, brain damage can make other parts of the brain take over for damaged areas (after a terrible recovery process).
In fact, it’s possible for a brain to be almost entirely empty space and people learn about it decades into their normal lives.
There are regions inside the brain that usually take care of certain functions but it’s not like there’s a specific area that’s guaranteed to be designated to specific nerves. Every brain is different, the schematics are generalisations that’ll work well enough most of the time.
Are there people of voting age that are exempt from paying taxes? Because I’m pretty sure the federal government has a huge database of its citizens already through the IRS. People who became adults after the last tax season and people committing tax fraud would need to register manually once, but I don’t think that’s such a big risk.
How would an illiterate dude living in a cave register to vote?
I guess America just can’t pull of what just about every European country does, but even then you don’t need this recurring manual registration mess. Just register everyone who filed a tax form last year and you should get most of the voting age population already.

0·2 months agoMany French words are basically mangled Latin/German/Dutch/Spanish words as well, you have to go back quite far to “correctly” pronounce any of them.
English speakers can’t even decide how to pronounce words. With the complete disconnect between written English and spoken English, I don’t think it’s possible to mispronounce any word in the English language.

Downloading apps off app stores is easy. These sketchy websites can actually be real useful when developers decide to geolock their apps (i.e. when a local ride sharing app won’t download because your Google account isn’t from the country you’re visiting). apkmirror has also helped me obtain various Google apps that didn’t come with my phone’s custom ROM, though that’s one of the good ones that doesn’t alter apps.
Many of the sketchier will take apps and alter it to inject malware, though. By removing in-app purchases/ads/DRM with tools like lucky patcher they can explain away why people’s phones are calling these apps malware (because the alterations are to be expected), but the goal was never to give people free stuff, there’s always money behind it.
