  • The story I hated.

I made my character based around John Coffey from Green Mile, but like he’s the bad ass everyone thinks he is. I knew I wanted to drop INT and CHA for brute strength and constitution. I was ready to do everything possible to dominate the Wastelands… But that intro… Just the character creation…

It’s like, if you weren’t drawn toward making a character bio based around the white nuclear family, you were never going to enjoy the intro at all, and you’d put off the main quest as long as possible to go do all the crazy shit you hit the wastelands for.

    “It’s time to find Shaun.”

    “But-”

“No. You’ve murdered everything, you’re an absolute beast. You are all that is chaotic-neutral in the wastelands. It’s time to finally start quest 2 of the main quest.”

“But I’m not a family man! He’s not even mine! I only met that bitch at the bar the night before!!”

“Well, that’s not what the game says-”

  • For some reason this has made me lol so much. Simple and stupid. And love how Jeff just fucks off out of frame getting worse at it.

I’ve had a few house mates from Japan and Taiwan. They always had a weird issue overemphasising and misusing English swear words. I had to teach them how to swear properly so they didn’t sound like psychos.

I’ll never forget, “Are you fucking kid me?!”

I was in stitches. “Bro, it’s “kidding” and you emphasise that, not the “fucking” part. Like this… Are you fucking kidding me?”

  • Haha I’ve grown up jazz trained and subsequently suck at double-kick and most metal in general. We have sheet music for our similar precision parts like metal, but mainly entire sections where you just ad lib on a minimalist setup, never sounding the same twice.

It’s like, metal is Formula 1 and my code is World Rally Championship. Yeah, I can fling a car sideways through dirt, but introduce aero and grip, my brain never got exposed to that, so it struggles.

You can stop reading now, but I find this next part interesting if you’re curious about drums…

I can use a double-kick better than your “average” drummer (being that the average drummer sucks at or doesn’t know double kick at all), but no where near as fast and sustained over time as metal drummers. But, in jazz and Latin, I’ve learned heel-toe and slide techniques on a single to do brief bursts with one foot only. It’s hard to explain, but effectively rocking and sliding the foot to catch the pedal bouncing up on each stroke to hit again. The result is it sounds like a double kick briefly bursting, but just one foot.

What’s insanely impressive is metal drummers that apply this to both feet on the double kick mechanism. I imagine it takes a long time to get their bad foot up to scratch, but the result sounds impossible when you look at their leg movement.

An example (no slide though, as I don’t think it’s possible with double kicks) https://youtu.be/YnFU9IqCTIc?si=AZKXNRvcdXjKDbYg

  • Having not even ridden horses or been around them, do they genuinely have a happy personality? Or is it something you have to work on, and then they like to be ridden and like spending time with their familiar human companion?

Just curious, since I’ll gladly handle snakes, swim in shark areas, or deal with an aggressive dog that’ll definitely bite me—I know all about these animals, so it’s not scary. But horses have always been scary because I just don’t know. The idea of walking behind one or being near one is unsettling. They’re huge.
