  • I recently stumbled upon SDF and it honestly filled me with so much hope and inspiration, that something so cool and benevolent could be held sacred for decades and has persisted through all the changes and enshittification, it felt like climbing a mountain and finding a perfectly preserved monastery with libraries full of wisdom still stewarded by living digital monks.

And yet when I share my enthusiasm with anyone, they say “i don’t get it, just looks like an outdated website to me…” -_-

Implying you can control or induce these hyperfixations in a productive way is disingenuous at best, measurably harmful at worst.

If you work in a job that can use use the chaos in a productive way that’s great, but I’m willing to bet you still face abnormally high difficulty with general life tasks, and consistently struggle to enforce a work/life balance.

You’re not helping people with ADHD by posting this. You’re establishing an unattainable standard for people that are already doing everything in their power just to get by.

    I CAN CONFIRM THIS WORKS

A few years back I was away for a while and came back to a nasty mouse infestation. When faced with the prospect of deep cleaning and sanitizing items, it made it WAY easier to get rid of stuff that I didn’t CRITICALLY need.

Anything important I put in the work, anything not got tossed. I was able to cut back significantly.

Also gave me an excuse to spend a bunch on storage - everything is now stored in clear sealed plastic bins with labels - and left me with enough trauma that I’m now quite vigilant about cleaning :P
