You are both agreeing that the storm is bad yes, but you are communicating in a way that is generally assumptive and hurtful to an area of human beings who are affected by disaster

It would be really very nice if you could hesitate blaming them for this unnatural disaster until after this guy (and others) can get the water out of their houses.

  • Yeah, I also get frustrated when I have strong feelings towards past memories. I can also relate how it is demotivating to experience the same old feelings in the face of having recently made progress on the issue, personally or socially.

Posting about it on here might be a form of a good way to vent or reprocess the event. Either way, I think it’s really cool that you have awareness of yourself and also are trying to change for the better. That is not easy or simple.

It would be difficult, but you may want to try chatting with your Pops about what happened, in a calm and nonjudgmental way. Not talking about bothersome things can be temporarily useful, but it would probably be beneficial to both of you to lay it all out, y’know? Mistakes can happen. Perhaps we can think of a different method of handling habits, so that this doesn’t come between you two again?

I’m sorry that these situations and events caused you to feel so awful. I’m still gonna be proud of you for wanting to improve, stranger. Best of luck!

It seems we’ve been taught strict expectations about “functioning.” When a machine doesn’t get the resources it needs to do its function, it does not function, and it is not expected to function, if the mechanics are understood. We know a lot about what people need (still more to discover) but we’re expected to “function” without having our needs met.
