The potential consequences
Pretty lame, basically just giving lifetime achievement awards to a bunch of beloved elderly actors rather than basing the awards on the shows and performances in question.
Yes I definitely assume that. Maybe not every single person since who knows what goes on in people’s heads, but generally we should expect the voters for the two left of center parties to prefer the other left of center one to the right wing one. Particularly since presumably if there was a single party representing those voters it would probably be somewhere in between them ideology-wise.
Just wait until you’re old and there’s a new wave of kids for whom the sequels are a core part of the franchise. It’s been freaky to watch it happen with the prequels.
In the general election the “feasible” candidate is always the Democratic nominee, so you should never have any argument about it at that stage. Meanwhile in the primary people try to use that sort of “feasibility” / electability argument against farther left Dems, but it is total nonsense and can be completely ignored at that stage.
And it’s a disaster in Canada. The only reason the Conservatives ever take power up there is because of the giant vote split between NDP and the Liberals. Look how the conservatives are heavy favorites to win their next election despite every poll showing them with less than the combined votes of the Liberals and NDP: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Opinion_polling_for_the_45th_Canadian_federal_election
Hmm that is too bad. For some reason the fact that I am the one making the demand seems to short circuit that oppositional feeling for me.
When I want to make sure I do something I create an event in google calendar for when I want to do it. So the act of deciding to do the thing doesn’t have to be linked to the pain of actually doing it. Then when that time comes and I get the event reminder I can’t be like “I’ll do it some other time” because this is the very specific time I decided to do it, and if not now when? Not foolproof, I blow through a reminder event or push it back to another time once in a while, but it helps.
In reality it’s just a factor of the difference between a comedic cartoon and live action, but I sort of love the idea of it being an actual cultural difference between the two timelines, with people in the even more utopian lower decks era having gotten looser and wackier.
Maybe society just keeps getting less formal over time and by then “Hi” is one of the more formal ways to greet someone, as opposed to just “sup” or [suggestive eyebrow movement]
Me and @YoBuckStopsHere
I felt like they were trying to show Captain Pike as going a little far when beating up Zac, but I thought he was being totally reasonable given the situation of “this guy knows how to keep your memories and you really really need to force him to hand that information over.” There was no way for him to know all he had to do was wait around in the palace for a little while.
Trying to avoid particular pieces of information is a tough problem for a federated network to solve.
Haha I kept worrying that my cats and baby would be disturbed by it but fortunately they didn’t seem to react much.
I think it makes sense that a brief bout of amnesia like that could be revealing of your underlying traits and feelings, but that in the normal course of things it’s very important to have your memories.
Yeah how loud are they being while masturbating?? Do they think keeping it down would be illogical?
Playing the lute is a euphemism for what? Vulcan masturbation?
Or at least that’s what he’ll claim as it comes crashing down around him
Cease him!
