@[email protected] is a nice guy (/girl/whatever) but about as sharp as a sack of wet mice when it comes to spotting users’ instances
(You were replying to [email protected], not at lemmy.world, though both are me)
However, I would say when talking about Linux specifically, there is a high chance that people talking about stuff being broken are people breaking stuff.
I’m sure you’re right. It used to be complicated to set up printers, bluetooth, audio, but even then once set up they were fine. Now all those and just about anything else you need to manage on the machine has an easy GUI
My wife’s computer runs Linux and she’s never had to use a terminal (she’s not a techie type)
For the UDP broadcast, you should be able to catch and change them with simple firewall rules, you’d catch packets with a destination address of the broadcast address and send them to a chain that rewrites the destination
So throw an error at runtime on that macro, most workbooks aren’t the target of a macro
They said ~/
I don’t think there’s any protection for the current user’s home directory
That’s a bit much, perhaps though they should use a real mode OS
Yeah, there’s a Debian implementation of GNU/hurd. Debian recommend you run it in a VM
The Linux kernel (the part that gives Linux the name) is antithetical to Linux philosophy? I could understand it being contrary to GNU philosophy
TOS security were red shirts. TNG rearranged the colours and made command red to try to kill the red shirt meme

Old Reddit is the only place moderators have any 3rd party tools. When Reddit kills it, many more mods will quit. Large subs will be completely unmanageable
All diets do ensure you eat no more than you need. Some of us can’t just eat less, and need to switch to the two macro nutrients that we have limits on. You can overeat protein, but it’s hard and doesn’t taste good after you’ve had enough, and it will be balanced by your eating less the next day. You simply can’t eat more fat than you need, it will make you sick if you overeat by a lot, but overeat fat at all and you will excrete the excess
There is no limit but the size of your stomach and the hours in the day for carbohydrates
So it’s easy to do no more calories than you need on low carb
I have tried about every diet and that one didn’t work at all for me. After all the common ones I did Atkins for a few months to great success, but couldn’t keep it up. Then the internet renamed Atkins induction to keto and I tried that for about six months a few times and always failed and put on all I lost.
Then from low carb I found zerocarb and that was the first easy diet. Now zerocarb is called carnivore and I’m still on it, slowly becoming thinner
I’m talking about smaller belts. I was asking for how they lost weight. I only know of one diet that works
It might have been the blackbird board that was fully open
I listen to music on a new music radio station - the good new music really stands out
Most people just like the (better bits of) stuff they listened to when they were young
