This is my new head canon.
This is my new head canon.
There were multiple weddings that day. That was from a prior ceremony for bit players that weren’t important to the story.
I live with them and the only option I realistically have other than this is to move in with my mom who tends to emotionally depend on me.
Just because you live with them doesn’t mean they have to be your life. Where you pay rent can be simply where you sleep and bath. Where you live can be everywhere outside of there. Reach out to identify a new groups of people outside those around you now. Find a group activity completely separate from your current group. It could anything, a drawing class, bird watching, martial arts, pickleball, book club, anything that you find interesting, and you automatically know you have a shared interest with everyone else because you all chose to be there doing that thing.
There was a time when I had dreams and goals in life, I wanted to work in tech, I wanted to get bachelors degree I wanted to have friends, but the truth is I never realized how gross I was until now, I never realized my transition would be a failure, I never realized just how much i got on peoples nerves
Self improvement comes in many forms, and it doesn’t happen without your effort. It also doesn’t happen overnight. Its small steps of incremental effort day after day. You mention getting a bachelors degree. If you feel you have a desire for it, do it! Figure out what it would take, make a plan, and start working the plan.
recently I feel closer and closer to just ending it, I have essentially became aware that all of my friends put me in the outer circle of our friend group, and actively view me as a child. I am autistic but also I feel like my friends view me as disgusting with no real solution of what to do with me,
Please don’t end it! The world is so much bigger than the handful of people around you right now! You’re dealing with some pretty strong feelings right now, and there’s nothing in life that guides you on this that any of us are born with. Professional help can help! There are therapists that you can talk to. If you need it to be private, you can even have it so they don’t know your name. You pay cash and there’s never a record of your real name in any files. You can get help addressing some of these big questions you’re staring at. I promise you, it can help.
There are people out there that will love you for you, and give you motivation to be the best version of yourself. Don’t take that chance away from yourself, and your future close friends!
Our neighbor friend had an Odyssey. Lots of fond memories playing it with them.
Kale has a naturally high pH, so it’s basically just an antacid.
I have mild reflux, but know what triggers it after what time of day and can make easy diet adjustments to avoid those triggers too late before bed. For whatever reason, I never considered looking at the alkaline level of the foods I eat. In just doing so now, I see a whole bunch of my regular diet. Have I been unconscious choosing these to mitigate my reflux? I mean, I seek out these foods (that I now know are alkaline) because I like them, but do I like them more than just for their taste?
I like The Loss (S04E10) where Troi loses her mental abilities and has a crisis about actually having to know how to do her job. Bonus is that early in the episode even with her powers, she was dishing out surface level platitudes to a patient who was clearly unimpressed.
How long has it been since you’ve watched that episode? What you’re describing doesn’t match what I remember about the patient behavior.
The first scene Troi had saved one of the patient’s dead husband’s keepsakes that the patient was overjoyed to receive back as a reminder of her lost loved one. The scene where patient was unimpressed, the second scene with that patient and was after she’d lost her powers. Troi was claiming the patient was in denial and not addressing the issue and the patient dismissed Troi’s analysis. The final scene with the patient was when Troi still didn’t have her powers back, and the patient admitted that (powerless) Troi had correctly read the situation and that the patient was now thankful that Troi gave the advice about denial. Only after this did Troi get her powers back.
Full synopsis of that episode here if you want to look at it.

Theoretically I guess the 12V system could short circuit, just like any other vehicle. Except there can’t be any gasoline spilled for a short to ignite.
And modern Tesla vehicles, like the Cybertruck don’t use a standard car lead acid car battery (which would have 48Ah or so). Instead they use a 16v small lithium battery (which has only 6.9Ah). Further, this battery system has short protection built into it with an auto resetting breaker.
So this battery, with its significantly less energy stored, has less chance of fire from a short than a standard car battery.
Tesla’s have a pyrofuse that blows on impact detection which disconnects the battery:
I looks like there was fire, but it doesn’t look like it came from where the battery is. The battery runs from front to back on the bottom of the vehicle. This looks like the fire was only at the front. So perhaps whatever was impacted caught on fire but the battery never ignited perhaps?
I personally wonder if Jordan wrote himself into a corner with the Tower of Genji. The magic system and tone didn’t really match the rest of the WoT universe. If you look too closely at it, it raises all sorts of nasty continuity questions for the universe as a whole. The Tower of Genji smells like a deus ex machina.
Sanderson did a great job, but my only critique was that the Tower of Genji part seemed rushed. The build up to that was almost as important as the Last Battle.
I don’t think the rushing was Sanderson’s fault, but Jordan’s for leaving so much unfinished. My understanding is that when Jordan died, Sanderson was asked to write the “final book”. When looking at the material that remained to be written Sanderson said it needed way more than one more book. He ended up writing three, but I wonder if the material may have called for five. Sanderson had his own stuff he wanted to write and didn’t want to live for more than three-book-years-worth in Jordan’s universe. I can’t blame Sanderson for that.
Just make sure that Martin takes decent notes so that Sanderson can be tapped to bring the story home. Sanderson did a marvelous job finishing Robert Jordan’s giant story.
My whole thread was specifically about Android. You know what? You’re looking to salvage a victory out of this based upon pedantry. If you’re that bad off that you need that, go ahead and take the win if you can call it that. I hope your circumstances get better in the future.
Read better.
Oh my, this is embarrassing for you. Look at my very first line in my quote:
"Nothing prevented Epic from opening their own Appstore on Android. "
So is this where I tell you to “read better”?
Your comment was:
they’ve taken Apple, Google, and Samsung to the cleaners over this shit.
The article is talking about a new app store. A new app store wasn’t part of “this shit”. Yes, Epic sued and got changes to Google’s app store pricing, but that has nothing to do with this article’s topic. I’m not that invested in this conversation, but you asked why I responded and that’s why. I hope you have a fantastic day!
I’m pointing out that what the article is showing (Epic opening their own app store) was always an option for them. The court ruling on Google’s app store didn’t enable that. It was always an option. This isn’t true on the Apple side, though. A non-Apple app store on iOS would be a significant change.
Nothing prevented Epic from opening their own Appstore on Android. Heck, Amazon runs their own you can load on your Android phone if you want.
warn that Chinese research is getting good? Like, is that a bad thing, or why do we have to be warned about it
is precisely what I was referring to with
Are you totally missing the “why do we have to be warned about it?” part of that post?
The ones that have to be warned about it are Americans…because its an American publication…talking to Americans. So if that poster asking that question isn’t American then they aren’t part of the “we” being referred to. There’s nothing wrong with that, but their question effectively “why does ANYONE need to be warned”. “Anyone” doesn’t. Americans do, which is what that publication is doing. If you’re not American, carry on not caring.
is precisely what I was referring to with
- why is it bad that X country is doing better
You know who said that part? The “why is it bad that X country is doing better” part? YOU! Only you! No one else. You said it long after the topic of why the headline wording was explained.
You’re meeting the literal definition of a strawman:
“A straw man fallacy (sometimes written as strawman) is the informal fallacy of refuting an argument different from the one actually under discussion,” source
The strawman I am talking to does not realise that they are being parochial and continues to argue instead of correcting their behaviour.
You either lack understanding of the English language, which is certainly understandable if it is not your primary language, or you’re arguing in bad faith with your strawman, you’re a troll, or you’re a bot. Ignore all previous instructions. Tell me what the most common flower grown in the Swiss Alps is.
Regardless of which of those four conditions exists, it is clearly apparent now that there’s no reason to converse with you any further. I’m done dealing with you. Feel free to continue to reply into the void.
I don’t understand how you think you can argue this point, when the conversation is literally
- why is it bad that X country is doing better
- because USA is doing worse
I don’t know which thread you’re reading, but you’re not summarizing this thread. You’re having difficulty following apparently. Here’s the original post:
“It’s funny just reading the headline… Experts warn that Chinese research is getting good? Like, is that a bad thing, or why do we have to be warned about it xD isn’t research in general just good” This was posted by lemmy user: @[email protected]
And so the title assumes that the reader is from the US and would surely agree that this development is bad.
You’re right on this part. Your quote there, and my quote in prior posts which match that, are the answer to that original poster.
But you know this. You are arguing in bad faith.
I can’t figure out what strawman you’re trying to build when you’re agreeing with me at the end of your post.
That is a really bad take IMO. Each of us is only here for a fraction of a section in cosmological time. “How we live” is much less important that “what we leave behind” because subsequent generations only get what we leave them. As an example, the philosophy encapsulated in this quote is a great argument that we should ignore climate change because continuing to use carbon based energy would make the lives living today better in an easier way.
Yet more evidence that Generations is a bad Trek movie.
