The only Windows reinstall I’ve had to do in years was when I unplugged my monitor’s integrated USB hub and somehow that completely broke Windows recognizing it.
Linux though? It’s typically user error in my case.

My HP printer has a special mode where it pretends to be a CD-ROM drive with the driver files on it. One time it entered this mode and I had to use a Windows machine to kick it back into normal printer mode. Couldn’t find any Linux way to do this.
The rest of printing from Linux has been smoother than Windows though. I have a Linux machine run CUPS and that makes printing from Windows easy.

How is the z position determined? Is it with the probe or a fixed endstop? Check that there’s no play in those parts.
I’ve used Freecad for a few projects. It’s definitely usable, but the learning curve is really steep, even for someone who already knows other CAD. I don’t think the workflow/features are there yet for being able to use it professionally in most cases. It feels much more like an engineering tool than an industrial design tool, which is part of why I hold that opinion.
I have not used Librecad. It’s 2D, right?
I get better game performance in Linux, but I still use Windows mostly due to CAD software (just like you’re saying). I hope those companies see the value in developing for Linux, but I’m not sure the statistics are there to convince them yet. Chicken/egg problem?
Could it be a power issue too?

Well when the mobile site is purposely a worse experience with nags and many dark patterns, I can understand that!
In addition to the emulator someone mentioned, you might want to try scrcpy, which lets you control and view your phone on your computer. No root needed and easier to use than an emulator.
Yeah, same but they also worked as bus passes.
I recently learned that SSDs do not reliably store data for long amounts of time when unpowered.
