German here. I had to send mine in four times since buying them, and always got a joke invoice of zero Euro for the repairs/swap. However, they never said they were going to replace them for free, and the poor guy I pestered on the hotline just kept saying I should send them in, as if he was forbidden to make any promises.
Long story short; it can’t hurt to try even when they not openly advertise the free-of-charge repairs.
Triceratops already means “Three-Horned Face” =P It’s just Greek instead of Latin.
… he sleeps all night and he works all day … ♪
(Thanks, now I have that dumb lumberjack song stuck in my head, lol)
My guess is that’s either a typo and was supposed to be “shipped”, or that they deliberately chose the word shifted (“to exchange for or replace by another”) in order to combine the numbers of sales and repairs into one statistic so it looks bigger. After Nintendo was mass-sued about the poor quality of their C-sticks, they were ordered to replace / repair any stick drift issues for free even outside of the warranty period, and people naturally used that feature.
I for one had to send my joycons in for repair six times since buying the switch, so in that statistic my hardware would have been sold once, but “shifted” seven times.
Same with guest rooms. In my area, almost all “old” houses have a room that is kept neat and tidy but unused until guests come over - basically wasted space specifically reserved for other people not living under that roof. And the boomers here get confused about why newer houses (especially rental appartements) don’t have that oh-so-important feature anymore.
Imagine an entire effing room and everything in it (furniture included) getting the “fine china” treatment and old people being offended that “the youth today” has the audacity to invite guests into the regular boring non-special living room.
On the other hand, “knocked down” and “knocked up” have drastically different meanings, which is a little confusing for foreigners sometimes. =P
Hutspot. It is also super easy to make and not exactly expensive, which is a big plus both for the days I have no energy left for cooking something else, and/or the budget is a bit tight.
Breath of the Wild. Every time Link steps into the light after opening the shrine, the camera pans over Hyrule, with that glorious music … I always get goosebumps and can’t wait to get the runes, catch a horse and start “exploring” again, even tho I pretty much know the entire map by heart already.
Like others have said already: it sells. It’s the same reason why seemingly every single fantasy/adventure game is called an “RPG” regardless of whether or not it contains actual RPG elements, like creating your own character.
You can also make light out of light by powering a lightbulb with solar energy, or create wind out of wind by powering a fan with electricity generated by wind turbines.
Just don’t try to recreate nuclear energy at home, kids.
For me, it was Astrid. Watching that fiercely proud, brutally honest and deeply caring warrior lady slowly lose the will to live after Giovanni was gone … that hit hard for some reason. And her reassuring Stella that is “isn’t so bad to be alone” and the like didn’t make it better.
Monster Sanctuary. It’s like a good mix of Legend of Zelda and Pokémon, pixel-style sidescroller with surprisingly deep lore and a lot of quirky monsters with interesting designs to collect. Lots of puzzles, different biomes, interesting abilities, upgradable equipment, an interesting story, rival characters with actual personality (and character development throughout the story) … all in all a well-made “monster collecting” adventure game.
It is also currently on sale in the Nintendo eshop, at least in Germany (5 Euro). No idea if it’s the same world wide, but 5€ are more or less the same as $5 so it is pretty cheap for a game of that size and quality.
Extreme levels of social awkwardness and the innate ability to infect/inject other people with it temporarily. An angry mob is throwing bricks in the streets? Let Sup-Aut talk to them for five minutes and everyone will be so uncomfortable that they’d rather go home than rioting. Sup-Aut is especially effective because they, too, would rather go home soon that continue standing in the spotlight, so these encounters usually take all of five minutes until the respective issue is resolved.
Weakness: everything they get told to resolve has to be done either RIGHT NOW and completely unprepared, or they’ll procrastinate and prepare until the city burned to the ground. There is no middle ground between these extremes, and it is impossible to predict which one will happen.
Probably a lot more reliable than electronic reminders too. It is super easy to acidentally turn off the alarm you set on your phone / watch / whatever and then immediatly forget why the alarm was set in the first place. But a hangry cat has no snooze button, so that won’t be an issue. ;)
I had to take care of the mini zoo my hoarder mother accumulated all my life, so I am used to “force myself” to properly care for animals that I am responsible for. That being said, this takes a huge toll on your own wellbeing after a while, like driving on flat tires eventually permanently damages the rest of the car. It is something that should not be the everyday norm.
I currently only have one 13 years old tomcat that gets my undivided attention, and while I would love to have a dog again one day, I also know that it would eventually lead to the same “flat tyre driving” and wear me out while neither pet gets the attention and care they need and deserve. I swore to myself that I will only ever have one pet at a time for the rest of my life.
…and I fully agree with what others have said already about dogsitting for friends / family, taking shelter dogs for walks and the like. The animals are taken care of in terms of food, medicine, shelter etc. so you won’t have to worry about not having the energy for that, but they can always use a little extra attention from a loving human that just spends time with them.
I don’t know how anyone thought this was a good idea for a video.
The dumber and more infuriating a video is, the higher the chance that viewers will start arguing with each other and/or the creator, and share links offsite to show others just HOW dumb and infuriating the video is. It’s the entire point of Rage Bait to be as obnoxious as possible to make people interact with the video in one way or another, because the creator gets “paid per click” in ad revenue. It doesn’t matter to those people whether the comments are actually civil discussions or literally every youtuber just commented “f- you!”, because both are worth one click = same amount of cash. Sharing links offsite is free advertisement on top of that.
Long story short, it is deliberate. And the best way to deal with those is to report and ignore them.
I know it is supposed to say “Service Fee” but after reading your comment my brain is unable to read anything other than Service Egg now …
Welcome to the wonderful world of ADHD where you can either talk for hours on end or say nothing at all, and everything inbetween is agony <__<
OR you actually get the chance to talk without interrupting someone else, and then YOU get interrupted by someone who doesn't care, so of course you instinctively shut up to not re-interrupt the other person.
Not sure if that really counts as “a game” for this community, but I reactivated my old Neopets account after a long hiatus. The site is still broken AF but just as fun as I remembered, and there is talk of an upcoming plot across the boards.
