Re: your second question, I’m not at my pc rn so can’t give full details, but I’m running plasma on Wayland in arch using a nvidia card (3080) and everything’s flawless since the 555 driver update with explicit sync. Only thing that comes to mind is checking to see if you’ve set the nvidia-drm modeset=1 kernel parameter?
Also seconding @Bigfish’s suggestion about heat, try watching your temps while you game maybe? I’d also watch ram usage just in case something’s got a memory leak and is pushing you into swap.
It might look like that when the topic is Linux vs windows, but if you ever wanna see that coordination fall apart just ask “which distro?”
Personally my arch install is almost boring me with how stable it’s been - and if anything goes wrong, it backs itself up before and after every single update plus on every boot just cuz, so I can roll back to wherever I want. I’ve put a lotta work into building out all these redundancies I’m happy with, and arch has been so goddamn stable I haven’t even had an excuse to use them. The process of getting a complete install was absolutely not “it works” - but now that I’m there, yeah, it really does just work. My only complaint is that I don’t have any reason to tinker with it more.

The article says Singh denies the pension is a factor, but if he wanted to hold out a little longer to get the money that he’s earned then… good for him? They don’t even seem to be accusing him of prioritizing that over the public good or anything, just of wanting money that he *checks notes* worked for and would meet the criteria to claim? The ability to scoff at being paid for your political work is a red flag to me (might indicate corruption/generational wealth/etc), and they’re really out here acting like it’s a moral requirement for office.
To add to this, with rustup you can add different build targets than the current system - could let you build the binary on a more powerful pc and then just scp it over.

Honestly I’ve found the opposite of what you said, where on Debian based distros I commonly had to go to a project’s git repo and follow readme instructions to build when it wasn’t in an apt repository. Meanwhile on arch, the only thing you have to install manually is yay and then afterwards everything is in the AUR. Not saying that makes arch more user friendly than Debian (obviously), but that one aspect I do actually find easier on arch at least if you’re willing to use an AUR helper.
I don’t think I’d call it anything wrong, but the subvolumes definitely do make it different for installation purposes so that following ext4 instructions for bootloader configs or kernel arguments could put you on the wrong path
Some desktop environments (plasma 6 at least) support it when running in Wayland - my daily driver for months has been an HDR setup (with a nvidia gpu, even) and it’s been great. It’s not quite ready for non-technical users, but imo it’s not far off and I can’t wait for it to be more common.

If they use it to disproportionately target muslims or something and allow Christian shit, then yea I’d agree it’s bad - but a blanket ban on religion while you’re representing the government sounds great to me.

Secondly, I agree sexuality terms won’t ever be able to perfectly describe everybody and IMO that’s okay - there’s too much variety to our experience and sexualities for that much specificity in labels, but the important part is having an umbrella term that encompasses all of us. I’m absolutely not trying to say that Your sexuality (or anyone else’s) should be excluded from that umbrella term - just adding my two cents about why I prefer that umbrella term to be “queer” or another alternative rather than “gay”. Lots of people seem to use gay to refer to anything relating to the GSM, and that (or You choosing gay as a label You like) is obviously valid - I just wanted to add another perspective since I got the impression from Your comment this was an ongoing decision rather than a piece of Your identity that was set in stone. If that impression is wrong, feel free to ignore this last part - You obvs don’t have to justify your choice of labels to me or anyone.
If You are open to other suggestions, it seems like nonbinary people attracted to genders similar to their own fit the definition of homo/homosexual pretty perfectly - I personally consider myself (in order of specificity) gay, then homosexual, then queer. If I ever have a realization about my gender and learn I’m not a guy (but still something adjacent), then in my mind at least I’d stop being gay but continue being homo - and anything short of being both straight and cisgender would still make me queer. Again, no pressure to use/not use these or any labels - I just really value clarity in language even though it’s nearly a lost cause for things as varied and fluid as GSM stuff lol.
As much as I normally love and appreciate gender neutrality, I don’t think it belongs in a term like “gay” purely for clarity’s sake - words for sexualities are one of the only places gender actually matters in language imo. The word “gay” is the only popular term for men who like men that I’m aware of, and it’s already sometimes used as a bit of an umbrella term - I try to support all my siblings on the GSM, but sometimes I wanna be able to filter for things explicitly relevant to me the way nearly every other sexuality is able to. I’m aware it’s a very minor gripe and I’m not trying to gatekeep, but I’d personally prefer to see “queer” or another umbrella term used as a gender-neutral catch-all.
Every non-sexuality-related term I’m with you 100%, someone’s femininity/masculinity/both/neither has no bearing and separate words aren’t needed; if I’m in a burning house I’ll be equally glad to see someone whether you call them a fireman, firewoman, or anything else. It’s just if I search for e.g. a gay novel, wanting characters I can directly relate to, I’m pretty invested in the relevant characters being men lol.

I ran it (bg3.exe) through the latest vanilla proton (9.0.1 I think?) earlier today and it had no issues. I used the experimental version for character creation and it had some fucked up textures (color banding mostly), but after switching it ran perfectly in the stable version. I’m running thru steam on a nvidia gpu, so hopefully on amd you’ll be fine if you try that.
I like to pick a fun project, pick a language I don’t know / wanna learn better, and then just go for it. Don’t be discouraged if somebody’s already made it - nothing says your learning project has to be useful in the real world, tho it’s kinda nice if you think of something that can be. If your project seems intimidatingly hard, remember the programmer workflow of breaking it down into manageable pieces and tackling those. If it doesn’t seem hard enough to teach you anything, I sometimes like to write it without using any external code or libraries (or a minimum of them; if it’s something like a GUI program I’ll use direct vulkan bindings instead of like Qt). This is also one of the few areas I get some use out of LLMs, cuz bullying ChatGPT or a local equivalent into giving me huge and tailored lists of program ideas can be really helpful. Either way my main advice is just to pick something that interests you and have fun with it; things don’t have to be worthwhile to other people to be worthwhile to you.
