  • They may not have to maximise profits but the shareholders will question every decision that doesn’t maximise profits so the result is the same.

If that were true, we wouldn’t see the obscene salaries of C-suite level execs skyrocket… That money cuts into the profits as well, you know?

They are ok squeezing their workers while giving themselves the sweet life on the company’s dime

That’s why activist investors that push companies to more ethical behaviour are important.

This is a fairy tale force, like Santa or the boogie man. You’ll never get ethical behavior from profit seeking entities

  • It certainly doesn’t warrant the high rating on RT. But it’s entertaining, engaging, visually stimulating and a fantastic adaptation of the games

Which is it? because an entertaining engaging, visually stimulating show which is also a fantastic adaptation of its source material should have a good rating

I’ve basically given up on ratings and threads about ratings because every idiot thinking they sound bright, reduce everything to either “best ever, Jebus herself couldn’t make it better” or “dog shit that will make you pray for cancer to take your disappointment away”

PS: not referring to you (person I’m replying to) when taking about idiots that polarize everything… Referring in general to polarizers (that’s a word, right?)

  • No I get it, not all churches really can… Nor it is assumed a feasible plan that they may all perfectly distribute the homeless population.

The point is that most churches only talk the talk. I was raised Catholic and never participated in church that did anything more than collect money to donate (and for itself of course). Sure they had some activities and talked a lot about helping others but it seemed the expectations was that we would go out and do good on their behalf

I can’t tell if you are purposefully taking the post literally just to be able to shoot it down… But I’m giving you the benefit of the doubt

Just think of how many homeless people would actually refuse to live in any of these Mega mansions

Or better yet, imagine what these “churches” could do with the literal millions they spend in mansions and private jets to help the homeless… You know, if they actually care about that and were not just tax avoidance operations

  • But I always assumed that, unless you are blocking competition, it’s not legally a monopoly and harder to penalize (not that they actually penalize monopolies much in north America)

Other than making a good product and easier to run games on Linux, there is nothing preventing anyone to install other launchers or games on their own or game makers from selling through other launchers or independently, etc
