Stupid lemmings not understanding that 400 usd switch 2, plus 70 dollar switch games that nintendo says you are allowed to play, plus paying for internet again is way cheaper than 400 usd steam deck that will get you around 20 or so games for the price of a single nintendo game off humble bundle.

I have 0 accessories. You get everything you need: case and charger. Most accessories are completely pointless rice, unless for some reason you want to use your deck as a pc. In which case it is still cheaper than switch and a pc.
SD is way cheaper in the long run. You already have a sizeable library and if you don’t 620 on steam deck and humble bundle is going to get you way more games than 620 spent on switch and overpriced nintendo copy paste games. Didn’t you have to pay for the internet again on switch?
Wait till you discover windows ui. Fucking backup tool having advanced options that display 2 of the 3 options and you have to click more to see the third option. and then you realize the advanced options are the basic options. Absolute clown os.
I had bunch or games start working and stop crashing once I moved to linux. Also my graphics tablet and audio devices stopped having driver issues. Even simgear works. Only thing missing is vr support but seems I am the odd one out in that case.
Protip.once you have it setup make a snapshot or backup. You will be trying stupid shit out and breaking the system as you explore.
I value the same things and after spending a few days troubleshooting mh worlds and rummaging through internet forums, cmd line, reg edit i remembered my deck plays it fine and I installed fedora.
My os now uses 1gb of ram, i didn’t need a day to find drivers for all my weird hardware as it all just worked, mh world runs without crashing, old weird games started working flawless, my graphics tablet doesn’t want me to manually launch drivers to work

Same experience here. People waiting for steamos don’t know most good distros work how they think steamos is gonna. Games with kernel level anti cheat that are worth playing are few and far between. And fuck their communities for not rioting when their fellow members get removed from the game for no reason.
Its the only os with functional cad as well. Freecad is a user hating joke.
Exactly, i was spending so much time using vmd and regedit in windows to troubleshoot everyday issues like games crashing or hardware bugs, that I realized “this is what every windows user tells me linux is like”.
If linux breaks 5 or 10% marketshare on hardware surveys, developers will start thinking about the 300-600 dollars they lose every 100 sales simply from disabling anti-cheat on linux.
I’m also on a gaming/graphics workstation rig with nvidia and fedora runs games windows can’t run no longer and overall is more stable when gaming. Only issue is vr and games that are intentionally disabled on linux via anticheat. But they’re slop anyway other than delta force, which is unplayable due to hackers.
I had issues with drivers, like I would have to find them somewhere on the internet, trust a random stranger to download and install them. And even then some things required me to launch drivers manually every single time I wanted to use my hardware.
I had issues with games, constant crashes or some games flat out not working. Some even crashing the entire system occationally.
I had issues where my pc would randomly turn on. Going to sleep was funky and would break the system requiring restart. I had to find drivers for my audio systems to get them running.
I had to run around confusing settings and tweak them through different control panels made by random people that largely overlapped to fix basic issues.
Thankfully those issues were solved the moment I installed linux.
There is nothing to be terrified of for MS, windows can implement mandatory rectal scans to log in and linux wouldn’t break 20% market share.
60hz graphics tablet and 144hz gaming trashitor running fine on nvidia. Graphics tablet didn’t even need drivers installed and huion app launched every time unlike windows.
I switched to fedora cold turkey a few months ago and honestly its a better experience than windows by far. As a bonus games that work poorly or don’t work on the os they were made for, work on linux now.
Ubutu sucks really bad. I installed it checks notes 17 years ago and I didn’t even get internet running out of the box. Fedora 41 is just so much better and I can’t see how anyone can argue with that.
Elite Dangerous: Best space travel, strap on your VR, put on a virtual monitor playing star trek into your cockpit and stand in awe of how gigantic planets truly are. It has fallen under mismanagement and its mid to late game is terrible. But for the price it’s great.
X4: Space sandbox game from the legendary studio behind… the x series. Fantastic galaxy sim where you can do whatever. Hunt bounties, be poor space trader who converts all their life savings to silicon wafers only to find out nobody is buying them or become ceo of the entire space. Only negative for me is it would be the perfect game if it had open space and orbiting planets and all.
Star Sector: basically mountain blade in space. Not on steam.
Space Engineers: Build your own spaceships and do whatever. The resources are more befitting of an automation game and you can automate.
More niche games: Astrox: Even online but singleplayer. Objects in space: Abandonware that takes an interesting approach to space travel. Delta v: rings of saturn: hardest sci fi space mining simulator around the rings of saturn. Starship EVO: very early access but has the best ship building system I’ve seen so far and ring worlds.
What does the oled matter? I have both and it is not a big deal. Id rather have lcd deck than OLED switch with free access to every nintendo game.
