I still think this is a near perfect movie. I will still watch it every now and then, and I feel it holds up perfectly. The soundtrack is 100% dated, but I think the songs are awesome and I listen to them occasionally too.
Thanks for sharing this. I always get excited when I see the coelacanth pop up in the news.
It was amazing to get to see one at the Smithsonian. It felt like seeing something that I shouldn’t be able to see, like something of this world, but not, at the same time. I can’t imagine how thrilling it would be to see them in person and to learn about them directly.
I’ve been really impressed so far. I’m going to have to try it with a physical controller, I’m not used to mobile gaming, so especially using the screen for the dpad makes it feel kinda clunky.
Design wise and what they were able to accomplish is quite impressive. It looks beautiful and is giving me about the same quality of experience as LttP.
I haven’t had much time to dedicate to it, but I’ve been playing this for the first time as well.
The only Zelda game I’ve played before has been Link to the Past. It’s been very enjoyable so far, especially for a Gameboy game! I’m in the palace with the Pegasus boots and I got the boss key, but I’m short one of the regular keys, so I got pissy and stopped for now.
Posting on Superbowl so much means I get the Koholint owl posted back at me regularly, so I decided it was finally time to check it out.
Lol yes, they will always live on thanks to that reference!
I feel like I’ve only ever seen Donald Duck OJ as part of a cheap hotel’s complimentary breakfast! 😆
I remember foil tabs like those on a few things, but I was born a smidge too late for “pop tops,” which pulled off the same way, but were as thick as the to of the can. People supposedly just tossed the little shrapnel pieces everywhere for people to get poked with. Hence the switch to a tab that stayed connected to the can.
The one mod is more particular than the other on Superbowl. Just make your main image an owl and you should be good though. I’ve posted some other raptors and a few misc animals when I go tour animal rescues.
There’s always the Birding community too, though it’s a little less active than Superbowl, but still gets good traffic.
Of course! And I don’t want anyone to feel bad or anything like that for enjoying the pics. I enjoy them too. They are super cute.
In researching owls for you guys every day though, I also read way more unfortunate stories than I’d like, and things like this, animal cafes, circuses, private zoos, and just plain keeping wild animals as “pets” or using them as props or parts of costumes are important things to discuss, but since this group of ours is mainly for fun, I’m not sure if this is the right venue for discussing and debating these things.
I just want to know for myself that whatever I share is both factual and that the animal is being properly cared for if it’s captive or left be if it’s wild. And all you guys really seem to care about them as well, so I want you all to be able to make informed decisions as well.
So again, no issues with anyone enjoying the pics of this owl, but I think it’s important everyone knows this is a real owl entrusted to a person’s care.
Just realized I replied to aww instead of the Superbowl cross-post, so my reply may have sounded a tad snooty out of the context there.
No snootiness was inteded!
No, this is real.
I was looking into this story a little bit ago and ultimately passed on it, as I think I saw some references to the owl as a pet, but I couldn’t confirm.
Some owls need to live with people in a resident care environment, and that is cool. An owl just to have an owl is a grey area to me, so I stay away from that, as I tend to lean to education and rescue with my platform here.
There are places where one could have a pet owl or go to an owl cafe, etc, but I have conflicted feeling overall about less than well regulated care of wild animals.
Bored Panda has a quick summary and big photo list and a link to the person’s Facebook if you want more.
No issues with the posting of this in general though.
Ouch, that’s disappointing to hear.
This summer sadly ended my work from home period, but I felt I saw noticeably more monarchs this year than in a very long time. I’m on the East Coast though.
I did also take notice that I never see near the amount of fireflies I did as a kid too, which also makes me a bit sad.
Looks like the office version of anti-homeless architecture. Most likely intended to serve the same purpose.
I’m becoming less convinced feudalism ever actually ended…
I’m really questioning that myself. I’ve been to all the stores I posted and they’ve always been fine.
I just looked up a Tesco and a Carrefour from Europe and they look about the same as the US stores, so I’m wondering where OP lives where box stores are beautiful.
I love Aldi and it’s where I get 75% or so of my groceries. I enjoy cooking, so it’s easy to get basic quality ingredients there, and I’ll grab the occasional prepared food as a treat, especially during German week!
They’ve expanded their offerings and still manage a good price. We’ve gotten there ground bison and lamb and dinner frozen duck breasts that have all been great. I like their flake style imitation crab. They have some good seasonal offerings.
Their not having any name brands seems to help them beat the price collusion the other stores have. Giant has bought out most of the stores near me, which doesn’t help, but I buy little enough there I don’t complain much about it.
You had me zooming in looking for something. Like others have said, this is the “passing the savings along to you” look.
Target is a little more lively with an actual ceiling and brighter color scheme, but it’s really the same thing with a little extra polish.
This is a Giant Supermarket. Same overall feel as the Walmart, but slightly less warehouse like to make things look more appetizing.
Aldi has done a pretty good job of remodeling. It’s a value brand store where just about everything is store label, and it used to look rougher than Walmart. Now it’s become almost trendy and chic, but prices are still good. Makes the others really look like penny pinchers.
A large part of it is probably stores are so big making it nice would be “cost prohibitive” since they’d require more cleaning and maintenance.
I did see that when I was checking if Nemoy continued to do the voice in the series or just the movie. (He didn’t, it went back to Frank Welker, who voiced Megatron.)
I gave the first Bay movie a chance, because did 6 year old me ever love transformers in the 80s, but one Bay movie was more than enough for me. Maybe I’ll look up the Bay scenes on YouTube so I can hear Nemoy without dealing with the rest of the movie…
He was also Galvatron in the Transformers movie.
Have you met anyone from Western Pennsylvania? You’d understand a number of them not knowing where they are on a map!
Lol I kid. Western PA, aka Pennsyltucky, is our Florida Man territory.
Ohio I definitely consider the start of the Midwest.
The others are right though mentioning the obscene number of rebel flags in PA though. My brother was guilty of it for a while in sad to say too. I’m in the Southeast, the most metropolitan part of the state, and they’re all over. They’re usually hung next to the MAGA stuff, which I’m sure comes as little surprise. Honestly I’d probably prefer the stars and bars to the Trump crap because at least the flag is aesthetically less ugly visually, and the person flying it could just be ignorant or is at least being honest about their beliefs instead of the poorly veiled hate the MAGA trash represents.
Arkansas was the surprising state to me. I guess I just don’t ever think about anything related to Arkansas so I lump it in with the Midwest instead of the South, which I think of as the tourist destination states.
Thankee-sai!
I figured 1 or 2 people clicking on the pic might enjoy it…
